Position Summary
The Corner Drug and Wellness is seeking a dependable, customer-focused Pharmacy Technician to join our independent community pharmacy team. The Pharmacy Technician will assist pharmacists with prescription processing, insurance billing, inventory management, customer service, point-of-sale transactions, and prescription delivery services to patients. This role is essential to ensuring efficient pharmacy operations and providing exceptional patient care.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Receive, enter, and prepare prescription orders accurately and efficiently
- Assist pharmacists with prescription dispensing activities in accordance with state and federal regulations
- Process prescription refills and maintain accurate patient records
- Process insurance claims and assist with claim troubleshooting
- Provide outstanding customer service in person and over the phone
- Operate the pharmacy point-of-sale (POS) system, process customer transactions, and collect prescription copays and retail purchases
- Manage inventory, including receiving, stocking, and monitoring medications and supplies
- Deliver prescriptions and pharmacy products to patients in a safe, timely, and professional manner
- Maintain patient confidentiality during deliveries and obtain required signatures or payments when applicable
- Comply with all HIPAA, state, and federal pharmacy regulations
- Perform other duties as assigned to support pharmacy operations
Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or GED
- Active Pharmacy Technician registration/certification as required by state law
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities
- Basic computer proficiency
- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and clean driving record
Preferred:
- Previous pharmacy technician experience
- PTCB or ExCPT certification
- Experience with pharmacy billing and insurance claim processing
- Experience in an independent or community pharmacy setting
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds
- Ability to bend, reach, and perform repetitive tasks
