RESPONSIBILITIES


GENERAL

· Assist with instructional leadership for the planning, operation, supervision, and evaluation of the educational program

· Work collaboratively with school principal, certified and classified staff and the school's total community.

· Supervise teachers, support staff, and departments as assigned by the principal.

· Serve in the absence of the principal.

· Assist the principal with the disaggregation of student test scores and reporting systems.

· Assist the principal with the overall administration of the school.

· Communicates with students, teachers, parents and community members using a variety of mediums including technology.

· Oversight of all Calling Post for parent and student communication

· Oversight of counseling employees

· Evaluate the effectiveness of instruction and individual teacher performance.

· Coordinates and promotes professional growth plans and opportunities for faculty and staff

· Assist with New Teacher Induction and ongoing staff development program

· Assist with establishing a professional development plan faculty

· Provides leadership and oversight for co-curricular and extra-curricular programs, to include athletic department

· Works with teachers and parents to implement student interventions that differentiate instruction based on student need

· Reviews curriculum development proposals

· Assist with assessment program

· Assist with monitoring school improvement goals as documented in the annual School Improvement Plan

· Assist with Master Schedule and Staff Supervision Schedule

· Assist with building operations and maintenance

· Interprets Board of Education and central office policies and procedures

· Maintains student handbook and building procedures

· Responsible for student management, attendance and discipline

· Assist with the inventory, purchase, and organization of textbooks and supplies

· Assist with vendor and service contracts

· Coordinates building level crisis plan


QUALIFICATIONS

· Valid TN teaching license required.

· Must currently hold or be immediately eligible for a TN ILL-B (Beginning Administrator License) or ILLA/Professional Administrator License.

· Endorsement Code {441} Instructional Leadership - Aspiring, {442} Instructional Leadership - Beginning, {443} Instructional Leadership - Professional, {444} Instructional Leadership - Exemplary

· Minimum of 5 years successful classroom teaching experience verifiable by evaluations and positive recommendations from current supervisor.

· Minimum of 2 years successful experience in assistant principal role preferred and/or (team leader/department or grade chair/academic coach/principals’ chain of command/technology contact/athletic director/etc.).

· Must submit a letter of recommendation from supervisor.

· Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills to deal effectively with students, educators, parents, and community members

· Demonstrate excellent planning, organizational, problem-solving, decision-making, and time management skills

· Able to be a positive team-player and communicate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, students, and families

· Knowledge of and the ability to assist with the implementation of IDEA regulations at the school level.

· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral).

· Availability for staff training in the Teacher Evaluation Framework prior to the opening of school and other state-mandated evaluation training as required.

· Willingness to participate in required professional growth activities.

· Willingness to work productively in diverse school settings.

· Willingness to supervise extracurricular activities.


COMPENSATION

Compensation is competitive and commensurate with credentials and experience.
