About The American Baby Company

The American Baby Company is building a new fertility clinic network designed to make high-quality IVF and egg freezing more affordable, transparent, and modern.

Infertility affects roughly 1 in 6 couples, yet only a small percentage of patients who could benefit from treatment ever receive it. The primary barrier is cost. A typical IVF cycle in the United States can cost $25,000 or more, placing treatment out of reach for many families.

Our mission is to change that.

The American Baby Company is redesigning the fertility clinic model around efficient clinical workflows, high-performing IVF laboratories, and technology-enabled care. Our goal is to deliver high-quality fertility treatment at a dramatically more accessible price point, expanding access to care for many more families.

The company was co-founded by Dr. Paul Magarelli, a nationally recognized reproductive endocrinologist with more than 30 years of experience in reproductive medicine, and Van Spina, an entrepreneur with a background in finance, technology, and real estate development.

We are launching our first flagship clinic in West Palm Beach, Florida, with the long-term goal of building a national fertility clinic network.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Founding Senior Embryologist to join our first clinic and help build the laboratory foundation of The American Baby Company.

This is a rare opportunity for an experienced embryologist to take a hands-on leadership role in launching a new IVF laboratory from the ground up.

You will work closely with our Laboratory Director, reproductive endocrinologist, physicians, nurses, APPs, and operations team to support high-quality IVF, egg freezing, embryo culture, cryopreservation, and related laboratory services.

This role is ideal for a senior embryologist who is clinically excellent, highly organized, deeply quality-oriented, and excited to help build a modern fertility platform with strong laboratory standards from day one.

What You’ll Do

As our Founding Senior Embryologist, you will play a central role in the daily operation, quality, and performance of the IVF laboratory.

Core responsibilities may include:

  • Leading and performing advanced embryology procedures, including oocyte identification and assessment, conventional insemination, ICSI, embryo culture and grading, assisted hatching, embryo biopsy, vitrification, and warming
  • Supporting egg retrieval workflows and ensuring proper handling, timing, identification, and documentation of oocytes and specimens
  • Coordinating daily laboratory workflow, including procedure timing, case preparation, consent verification, and communication with the clinical team
  • Supervising, mentoring, and training embryology and andrology team members
  • Maintaining high competency standards, procedural consistency, and adherence to laboratory protocols
  • Supporting compliance with FDA, CAP, CLIA, and applicable state requirements
  • Participating in CAP inspections, regulatory audits, proficiency testing, and ongoing inspection readiness
  • Overseeing quality systems, including QC trending, QA review, validation studies, and SOP optimization
  • Managing equipment readiness, preventative maintenance, environmental monitoring, and troubleshooting
  • Ensuring accurate, real-time documentation in EMR, laboratory systems, and electronic witnessing platforms
  • Supporting traceable chain-of-custody systems, labeling accuracy, donor eligibility workflows, and specimen security
  • Overseeing transport logistics for cryopreserved reproductive tissues between laboratories, including documentation integrity and chain-of-custody controls
  • Supporting laboratory safety initiatives, including OSHA, bloodborne pathogen, chemical safety, and emergency preparedness training
  • Collaborating with physicians, nurses, APPs, and leadership on cycle planning, lab performance, and patient outcomes
  • Providing patient-facing embryology support when needed, including answering questions about laboratory processes, embryo development, and cryopreservation
  • Participating in weekend, holiday, on-call, and alarm response coverage as required

Quality, Compliance & Lab Performance

This role will be deeply involved in building and maintaining a high-performing IVF laboratory.

You will help drive performance across key laboratory and quality metrics, including:

  • Fertilization rates
  • Blastulation rates
  • Cryopreservation and warming outcomes
  • Pregnancy and clinical outcome support metrics
  • QC / QA completion and compliance rates
  • Successful CAP, FDA, and CLIA audit outcomes
  • Staff competency completion and training effectiveness
  • Documentation accuracy and chain-of-custody integrity
  • Equipment uptime and environmental monitoring performance

Training & Leadership Development

This is a founding laboratory role with significant long-term growth potential.

You will work closely with our Laboratory Director and clinical leadership team to help build the systems, SOPs, training processes, and performance standards for our first laboratory.

Your leadership development may include:

  • Building and refining embryology and andrology SOPs
  • Training junior embryologists, andrology staff, and future lab team members
  • Supporting laboratory onboarding and competency programs
  • Participating in equipment validation and lab readiness activities
  • Helping establish documentation, witnessing, and KPI tracking systems
  • Supporting quality improvement initiatives and lab performance reviews

This is a strong opportunity for a senior embryologist who wants to help build not just one lab, but the laboratory foundation for a broader fertility care network.

Why This Role Is Unique

The American Baby Company is taking a different approach.

As one of our first laboratory hires, you will help shape the laboratory systems, quality standards, workflows, and culture from day one. You will have the opportunity to influence how our embryology lab operates, how our team is trained, how performance is tracked, and how the laboratory model scales across future clinics.
