The grant analyst is responsible for leading the day-to-day accounting for our clients' grants. This includes budget preparation, reviewing monthly vouchers and reimbursement requests for grants and contracts, monitor and analyze programs.

Grant Analyst (Exempt / Salary Employee) 

Location: Chicago - Hybrid 

Hours: Annual Average Weekly Hours = 50 Hrs/Wk 

Department: Grants 

Reports to: Director of Accounting Services


Key Responsibilities: 

  • Maintain accurate financial records for all grants and contracts 
  • Prepare and submit timely financial reports to granting agencies 
  • Monitor grant budgets, expenditures, and allowable costs to ensure compliance with funding requirements 
  • Communicate to accounting all grant-related general ledger reclassifications 
  • Track grant revenue and ensure proper allocation of expenses 
  • Collaborate with program staff to develop grant budgets and forecasts 
  • Prepare documentation for grant audits and respond to auditor inquiries 
  • Ensure compliance with OMB Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200) and other applicable federal/state regulations 
  • Assist with invoicing, drawdowns, and reimbursement requests 
  • Maintain grant files and ensure documentation meets audit standards 


Required Skills & Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required 
  • 1-2 years of experience in grant accounting, nonprofit accounting, or public sector finance 
  • Experience with federal, state, and private grants 
  • Familiarity with grant compliance guidelines such as OMB Uniform Guidance 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software 
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills 
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

Compensation Range for Chicago: 

  • Tereo Group Band: $55,000 - 65,000 


Black Out Dates for Vacation: May - August Annually
