We are looking to hire a Child Anti-Hunger Advocate to support the work we do to improve our state’s nutrition programs and policies. This position reports directly to our Senior Director of Nutrition Advocacy and interacts regularly with our health advocacy team.
The Child Anti-Hunger Advocate is responsible for assisting with the strategic vision and day-to-day operations of a policy advocacy campaign focused on child nutrition in Tennessee. They will work closely with community partners, local agencies, and advocates to educate Tennesseans about child nutrition policy issues through social media and email campaigns. The Child Anti-Hunger Advocate will also meet with elected officials and policy experts to advance school meals for all legislation in Tennessee, providing policy analysis and research to support their efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive campaign plan that is responsive to changing needs and opportunities
- Manage and engage staff, coalition partners, and advocates to successfully execute the campaign plan
- Recruit and engage a diverse base of partner organizations and advocates for the coalition
- Advocate for legislation that expands child nutrition programs in Tennessee, meeting regularly with lawmakers and attending relevant committee hearings
- Create internal and external communications about legislative priorities, including summaries, white papers, and social media content
- Organize events and activities to engage schools, partners, advocates, and legislators in the campaign
- Represent the mission of the organization in a non-partisan manner and maintain compliance with all lobbying requirements
