Description

About TB Accounting Services

TB Accounting Services is a growing outsourced accounting, tax, and fractional CFO firm headquartered in downtown San Jose. We serve businesses throughout California and across the United States, working with clients in construction, manufacturing, real estate, professional services, retail, nonprofits, and other industries.

Our firm provides comprehensive accounting services, including bookkeeping, financial reporting, controllership, tax preparation, financial planning, and CFO advisory services.

As we continue expanding our firm and establishing our new tax division, we are seeking an experienced Accountant & Tax Specialist (CPA) who enjoys working directly with business owners, managing financial information, and assisting clients with their accounting and tax needs.

Position Overview

This is a unique opportunity for an accounting professional who wants to do more than prepare tax returns.

The position is structured around two primary responsibilities:

75% Accounting, Financial Reporting & Client Advisory

You will work directly with our business clients and established accounting teams to oversee financial reporting, review accounting records, prepare customized financial statements, and assist with ongoing accounting operations.

You will regularly meet with clients, discuss their financial performance, provide recommendations, and collaborate with our internal accounting staff to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.

25% Business Tax Preparation & Filing

You will support our newly established tax division by preparing, reviewing, and finalizing federal and state business tax returns.

Unlike traditional tax preparation positions, you will be working with established accounting teams that already maintain our clients' books and financial records. Your responsibility will be to review the financial information, identify necessary tax adjustments, finalize returns, and serve as the primary point of contact with clients during the tax completion process.

Our firm uses Drake Tax for tax preparation and filing.

  • Prepare, review, and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

  • Collaborate with our existing accounting staff to ensure client financial records are accurate and properly maintained.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial planning.
  • Identify accounting discrepancies and recommend corrective adjustments.
  • Participate in client meetings to review financial performance and discuss accounting matters.
  • Assist with complex accounting transactions, financial statement adjustments, and year-end closing procedures.
  • Support daily accounting operations and provide guidance to junior accounting staff.
  • Help clients improve their internal accounting procedures, financial controls, and reporting processes.

Business Tax Preparation & Filing (25%)

  • Prepare, review, and finalize federal and state business income tax returns.
  • Work with our established accounting and tax teams to obtain accurate financial information for tax preparation.
  • Prepare and review partnership, S corporation, and C corporation returns, including Forms 1065, 1120-S, and 1120.
  • Use Drake Tax software to prepare, review, and process tax returns.
  • Review tax workpapers, depreciation schedules, adjusting journal entries, and supporting documentation.
  • Identify potential deductions, tax adjustments, and compliance concerns.
  • Serve as the primary client contact during the final stages of tax preparation.
  • Communicate with clients regarding outstanding questions, missing documents, and tax filing requirements.

What Makes This Opportunity Different?

At TB Accounting Services, we believe accounting professionals should understand the businesses behind the numbers.

This is not a traditional tax preparation position where your responsibilities are limited to processing returns during tax season.

You will spend the majority of your time working directly with business owners, analyzing financial performance, assisting with accounting decisions, and developing meaningful client relationships.

Our existing accounting teams handle much of the daily bookkeeping and financial record-keeping, allowing you to focus on financial reporting, quality control, complex accounting matters, and client advisory services.

On the tax side, you will play an important role in helping us establish and grow our new tax division while working alongside our existing team.

We are looking for someone who enjoys both accounting and taxation, takes ownership of client relationships, and wants to grow professionally as our firm expands.
