Description

Title: Business Intelligence Developer

Department: AI Solutions

Reports to: Director of AI Strategy & Solutions

Location: Remote

Summary:

As a Business Intelligence Developer at Tarpon Health, you will build the statistical models and data infrastructure that power our AI solutions. You will work with healthcare operations and revenue cycle data, turning raw and often messy datasets into clean, reliable inputs that our AI and machine learning systems can act on. Your work sits at the intersection of data science and applied AI, and it directly shapes the quality of the solutions we deliver to clients. This role suits analytical builders who are comfortable writing code, thinking carefully about data quality and methodology, and communicating findings to both technical and business audiences. You will work closely with software engineers, data scientists, and delivery teams to make sure the models and metrics you build hold up in production and in practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and build statistical models that feed AI and machine learning solutions for healthcare operations and revenue cycle use cases.
  • Write optimized queries and scripts in Python and SQL to extract, transform, and load data across complex datasets and systems.
  • Collaborate with engineers and data scientists to integrate models and data pipelines into the solutions we deliver to clients.
  • Define and document metrics, data definitions, and methodology so the team can build on your work with confidence.
  • Evaluate the accuracy and reliability of existing data assets and recommend improvements where needed.
  • Stay current on developments in data science, machine learning, and AI tools, and bring useful ideas back to the team.
  • Use AI tools such as Claude to accelerate analysis, generate code, and improve the efficiency of your workflow.

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in analytics, data science, or a closely related role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience building statistical models and applying core machine learning concepts in a business or production context.
  • Hands-on experience with data visualization and business intelligence tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or similar.
  • Strong understanding of data structures, data modeling, and data quality principles.
  • Proficiency in Python for data analysis, scripting, and model development.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background in data science, including formal training or applied project work in machine learning and statistical modeling.
  • Experience using AI tools such as Claude to support analysis and development work.
  • Familiarity with healthcare, revenue cycle, or EMR environments (for example, Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth).
  • Experience with cloud data platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Familiarity with version control using Git and collaborative development workflows.
