Title: Automation Developer Team Lead

Job Summary:
The Automation Developer Team Lead is responsible for developing and maintaining automations, managing and leading a team of Tarpon automation developers, and serving as a key technical advisor across Tarpon clients.
This role is split between hands-on automation development and leading a team of developers. Success requires a blend of technical expertise, problem-solving ability, and strong communication skills, with a focus on automation technologies such as RPA, APIs, OCR, and agentic AI.
Responsibilities:
Client Automation Development
- Utilize industry-leading automation tools such as UiPath, Blue Prism, Automation Anywhere, and/or Microsoft to build, test, deploy, and maintain efficient and scalable automation solutions
- Develop, document, refine, test, and deploy automation solutions utilizing the most appropriate technologies (RPA, API, OCR, etc.) and techniques
- Design and build agentic AI automation solutions that combine LLMs, RPA, and orchestration frameworks to handle multi-step tasks with minimal human intervention, and guide the team in applying these approaches
- Additional techniques include but are not limited to REFramework, managing credentials, queuing, logging, information storage, exception management, scheduling
- Minimize automation downtime through monitoring automations, maintenance, analytics, and robust exception handling
- Educate clients and train new developers on automation platforms and technologies
- Support Tarpon engagements as a key technical advisor. Includes: joining adhoc client meetings, reviewing infrastructure and platform setup, and ensuring coding best practices are being followed
Technical Oversight
- Continuously improve knowledge of relevant technologies and business processes
- Support the Tarpon community content and education with automation expertise; this includes, but is not limited to:
- Developing / editing assets (how-to-guides, templates, etc.) supporting various automation scenarios
- Sharing technical knowledge about automation topics during virtual events
- Stay up-to-date on emerging automation technologies and industry trends
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and data security standards
Team Leadership and Resource Management
- Lead and mentor a team of automation developers, providing technical guidance, training, and performance feedback to maintain high standards
- Partner closely with other Tarpon Automation Developer Team Leads to align on team priorities, share capacity and workload, resolve cross-team dependencies, and ensure both teams are progressing toward shared goals
- Support sprint planning across all Tarpon clients. Includes: developing sprint plans and/or reviewing sprint plans created by Solution Architects
- Support the Director of Automation Development with strategic initiatives and innovation
Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience developing automation solutions using UiPath, Automation Anywhere, Blue Prism, Power Automate, or similar platforms
- Demonstrated experience building with LLMs, including prompt engineering, function calling, tool use, and agent orchestration
- Experience with agentic frameworks such as LangChain, AutoGen, CrewAI, or LlamaIndex
- Proficiency in Python and/or C# for integration, scripting, and custom component development
- Familiarity with REST APIs, JSON, and system integration patterns
- Experience with version control (Git) and collaborative development workflows
- Experience in Revenue Cycle and/or healthcare-related industries
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently on complex or ambiguous problems across both RPA and agentic AI solution types
- Comfort working in a client-facing, consulting-style environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2+ years in a technical leadership or team lead role
- Familiarity with RAG architectures, vector databases, and document intelligence tools
- Proficiency in SQL report development
- Experience with additional programming languages, such as C++, Java, or JavaScript
- Experience with a major EMR/EHR platform such as Epic, Cerner, or AthenaHealth, including integration via healthcare data standards (HL7, FHIR)
- Familiarity with common healthcare EDI transactions such as 835 and 277
