Job Summary:
The Advice Registered Nurse is an in-person position and functions as a primary liaison between patient and physician, by phone or in person at both the Novato and Larkspur clinic locations. 95% of job duties required for this position are triage / advice calls, and 5% of this position requires in-person patient care and MA support / supervision. Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse implements the entire nursing process to include assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation for patients and provides quality patient care that is efficient, effective and evidence based. Collaborates with clinicians and staff in the delivery of patient care.
Job Duties:
- Performs comprehensive telephonic and portal-based patient assessment, evaluation and advice
- Follows established clinical protocols/guidelines and provides appropriate patient instructions.
- Completes patient forms and manages prescriptions as needed
- Directs patient to appropriate levels of care based on assessment
- Provides health education to patients and their families.
- Completes medical documentation of telephonic assessment and disposition in Electronic Health Record.
- Demonstrates effective problem-solving skills and crisis management/intervention skills.
- Acts as a mentor as requested
- Administers oral, IM and subcutaneous medications and vaccines to patients
- Provides support and limited supervision to Medical Assistants as needed
- Participates in continuing education and training
Requirements and Minimum Qualifications:
- CA RN license
- CPR (BLS) from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
- RN Degree
- Familiarity with Nursing regulations and scope of practice.
- Advanced clinical knowledge of medical diagnoses, procedures, protocols, treatments, and terminology.
- Experience working with Electronic Medical/Health Records and documenting electronically
Experience:
- Minimum of 1-3 years of recent Telephone Triage, or ambulatory or inpatient experience, preferably in Pediatrics
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Skill in speaking and writing English clearly and distinctly, with appropriate grammar. Ability to interpret and describe patient assessments and identify nursing interventions. Must have pleasant and courteous telephone voice and manners.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team while functioning independently, maintaining confidentiality in all assignments, and showing initiative in identifying and solving problems as they occur.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain composure when confronted by difficult situations and to respond professionally.
- Possesses strong customer service skills to promote pleasant and effective interactions with patients, staff, and doctors.
- Ability to establish cooperative working relationships with administrators, physicians, peers, and the public.
- Skill in recognizing an emergency or high priority situation and taking appropriate and immediate action.
- Strong interpersonal skills; ability to effectively work with a diverse team of individuals in group settings.
- Experience with various computer software, including Google documents, Google Drive, internet
- Typing skills to prepare forms and correspondence with speed and accuracy.
- Able to sit at a computer terminal and use telephone headphones for extended periods
- Able to work at both the Novato and Larkspur locations

Salary range:
The expected hourly range for this position is between $60 to $75 per hour. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
