About the Internship
Tales of the Cocktail Foundation (TOTCF) is seeking a reliable, creative, and detail-oriented Marketing Intern with an interest in digital marketing and the nonprofit sector.
The Marketing Intern will support the Marketing team in creating, publishing, and analyzing social media and web-based content that promotes the Foundation, its events, brand content, and educational materials. This role will also assist with research, campaign development, community engagement, and marketing performance tracking.
This is a virtual position; however, the intern must be available to work in person in New Orleans from July 21–31, 2027, surrounding Tales of the Cocktail 2027. Housing is not provided or reimbursed by TOTCF. Tales of the Cocktail 2027 will take place July 25–29, 2027, in New Orleans.
What You'll Do
As the Marketing Intern, you will support a variety of digital marketing, communications, and event-related initiatives, including:
- Assist with social media content research, planning, and development throughout the year.
- Review the social media content calendar and provide copy edits and content suggestions.
- Monitor social media best practices, emerging trends, and opportunities.
- Assist with copywriting and content development for website pages and blogs.
- Help create media kits for campaigns, including drafting content and organizing campaign materials.
- Organize and maintain the Foundation's photo library.
- Assist with newsletter strategy, planning, and content creation.
- Contribute ideas and input to marketing campaigns and strategy.
- Support community engagement by responding to general Foundation emails and social media direct messages.
- Assist with creating and editing graphic design assets using Canva and InDesign.
- Conduct market research, including research related to other events, organizations, audiences, and demographics.
- Provide administrative support to the Marketing department, including planning, scheduling, and meeting note-taking.
- Participate in Marketing Team calls and other meetings as assigned.
- Assist with other Marketing department projects and responsibilities as needed.
During Tales of the Cocktail, the Marketing Intern will provide on-site support to the Marketing team and may assist with:
- Capturing and editing photo and video content for social media using the intern's own equipment.
- Monitoring attendee engagement through the event's ticketing/conference app.
- Assisting with merchandise counts.
- Organizing event signage.
- Updating signage throughout the host hotel.
- Providing support to other departments as event needs arise.
Schedule & Availability
Availability will vary throughout the internship based on the event-planning cycle. Candidates should generally be available for:
- December 2026: Approximately 2–5 hours per week, virtual
- January through early May 2027: Approximately 5–15 hours per week, virtual
- May through mid-July 2027: Approximately 15–20 hours per week, virtual
- July 19–30, 2027: Full-time availability for on-site event preparation and execution in New Orleans
- Tales of the Cocktail, July 25–29, 2027: Full-time, in person
- August 9–31, 2027: Approximately 10–15 hours per week, virtual
What We're Looking For
- Must be available in New Orleans, LA, from July 21–31, 2027.
- Must be available for a one-hour weekly Zoom Marketing Team meeting on Monday or Tuesday, with the specific time to be determined.
- Basic photo and video editing skills for social media platforms.
- Graphic design experience.
- Understanding of emerging social media trends.
- Access to an iPhone 14 or newer, or a comparable Android phone with a camera suitable for event content capture.
- Access to a computer capable of using required design software and accessing shared Google Drive documents.
- Strong attention to detail, creativity, reliability, and organizational skills.
Preferred Experience
- Experience editing short-form videos for TikTok or Instagram Reels.
- Experience using Canva and/or InDesign.
- Candidates with relevant creative experience are encouraged to include links or PDFs showcasing their work as part of their application.
Compensation & Internship Benefits
- $10/hour
- $15/hour during Tales of the Cocktail 2027 week, as applicable

Work Authorization
Candidates must be currently authorized to work in the United States and able to provide documentation supporting their work authorization.
Physical Requirements
This internship requires the ability to perform typical office and event-related activities, including sitting, standing, walking, using a computer, and maintaining visual attention for extended periods. During event activities, the intern may occasionally be required to lift or move materials and supplies weighing up to 30 pounds.
