About the Internship

Tales of the Cocktail Foundation (TOTCF) is seeking an organized, reliable, and detail-oriented Events Intern to support our Events Department. This internship offers hands-on experience supporting the planning and execution of Tales of the Cocktail and other year-round events while contributing to the Foundation's mission to educate, support, and advance the global drinks industry.


This position is primarily remote, with required in-person work in New Orleans surrounding Tales of the Cocktail 2027. The intern will gain practical experience in large-scale event planning, event operations, logistics, vendor and partner coordination, communications, and post-event reporting. Tales of the Cocktail 2027 will take place July 25–29, 2027, in New Orleans.


What You'll Do

As the Events Intern, you will work closely with the Events team on a variety of administrative, planning, and event-execution responsibilities, including:


  • Assist with event planning, logistics, conference operations, and administrative support.
  • Coordinate meetings, prepare agendas, organize data, and take meeting notes.
  • Attend weekly virtual Event Planning and Team meetings and meetings with external planning partners as needed.
  • Organize and maintain event databases, including data entry and information tracking.
  • Track TOTC hotel blocks and assist with weekly hotel reporting and reservation updates.
  • Learn and use event and project management platforms, including Asana, Airtable, OpenWater, Google Drive, Slack, and CVENT.
  • Organize and update event materials and databases for Tasting Rooms, Meet the Distillers, seminars, and other festival programming.
  • Assist with Bookstore & Bitters Market communications, schedules, calendar invitations, and CVENT updates.
  • Support vendor, sponsor, partner, and event communications as assigned.
  • Assist with on-site event logistics during Tales of the Cocktail 2027.
  • Provide flexible on-site support across programming areas, including Tasting Rooms, Cocktail Tour, Meet the Distillers, and other festival activities.
  • Assist with post-event closeout, reporting, hotel reconciliation, sustainability initiatives, and related documentation.
  • Support other local events and initiatives, which may include Tales Home Edition, Tales Media Preview, and Jazz Fest activities.
  • Assist with other Events Department projects and responsibilities as assigned.


Schedule & Availability

Availability will vary throughout the internship based on the event-planning cycle. Candidates should generally be available for:

  • December 2026: Approximately 2–5 hours per week, virtual
  • January through early May 2027: Approximately 5–15 hours per week, virtual
  • May through mid-July 2027: Approximately 15–20 hours per week, virtual
  • July 19–30, 2027: Full-time availability for on-site event preparation and execution in New Orleans
  • Tales of the Cocktail, July 25–29, 2027: Full-time, in person
  • August 9–31, 2027: Approximately 10–15 hours per week, virtual


What We're Looking For

  • Must be local to the New Orleans area.
  • Must have access to a vehicle or other reliable transportation.
  • Must have access to a laptop.
  • Working knowledge of Google Drive.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Reliable and able to manage responsibilities in a primarily remote work environment.
  • Comfortable assisting with multiple projects and changing priorities.
  • Event planning or event support experience is preferred.


Compensation & Internship Benefits

  • $10/hour
  • $15/hour during Tales of the Cocktail 2027 week, as applicable

Work Authorization

Candidates must be currently authorized to work in the United States and able to provide documentation supporting their work authorization.


Physical Requirements

This internship requires the ability to perform typical office and event-related activities, including sitting, standing, walking, using a computer, and maintaining visual attention for extended periods. During event activities, the intern may occasionally be required to lift or move materials and supplies weighing up to 30 pounds.
