What You’ll Do

As our HR Manager, you’ll be the go-to person for all things people and culture at Swannies. You’ll implement and own the processes that help our team succeed, from hiring and onboarding to performance and compliance. You’ll be a hands-on leader who thrives in a startup setting and brings structure without red tape.


Core Responsibilities (15–25 hrs/week):


  • General Team Support & Compliance

o   Oversee employee lifecycle: hiring, onboarding, offboarding, and role changes

o   Orders office supplies

o   Serve as the day-to-day HR contact for warehouse and HQ employees

o   Handle sensitive HR matters with discretion, fairness, and professionalism

o   Ensure compliance with labor laws, workplace policies, and documentation


·        Proactive Team Development & Oversight

o   Track employee attendance and manage policy enforcement

o   Manage quarterly performance review process and improvement plans

o   Run the hiring process and conduct first-round screening interviews for all new candidates before handing off to a department manager

o   Oversee cross-training and backfill planning across teams

o   Lead training efforts, especially for new/existing managers

o   Maintain an HR project tracker to organize initiatives

o   Keep the company org chart current and accurate


  • Payroll & Time Tracking

o   Run monthly and semi-monthly payroll processing and time-off tracking

o   Maintain accurate records of PTO, sick days, and work hours


  • Process Improvement

o   Partner with leadership to design and implement new HR processes and policies

o   Identify opportunities to improve employee experience and HR efficiency


What We’re Looking For

o   Proven HR experience in a startup or high-growth environment

o   Experience supporting 50+ employees in a mix of salaried and hourly roles

o   Comfortable working around warehouse teams and in non-traditional office settings

o   Highly organized, self-directed, and comfortable wearing many hats

o   Strong communication and interpersonal skills

o   Familiarity with HR software tools (e.g. Gusto) is a plus


Nice to Have

o   Familiarity with the Swannies brand and voice

o   Experience managing or supporting part-time and warehouse staff

o   Exposure to remote teams or distributed workforces
