Description

Reporting directly to a Clinical Supervisor, the Intern, shall provide psychological counseling and other related services to clients for Sunstone Counseling. The Internship is unpaid; however, Sunstone Counseling provides clinical supervision and clinical hours.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities

To perform 16-20 hours/week of both clinical and administrative functions. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions (below). Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.


  • Intake coordination duties include scheduling clinical appointments for new clients and answering crisis calls
  • Minimum of six to eight hours of psychotherapy per week
  • Participate in weekly peer groups lead by supervisors and other clinical staff
  • Attend weekly individual supervision sessions with assigned clinical supervisor
  • Currently enrolled in Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work or Marriage and Family Therapy is required.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


  • High degree of ethics and a practice of discretion and confidentiality.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills. Excellent listening skills required.
  • Ability to consider internal and external resources to develop a client treatment plan
  • Possess high levels of patience, empathy, and respect.
