About the Role:

As an Interior Designer, you will play a critical role in helping homeowners bring their remodeling dreams to life. You will collaborate closely with Architects, Architectural Designers, Project Managers, and clients to develop thoughtful design solutions and guide product selections that align with each project's vision, budget, and timeline.

This role combines creativity, organization, client interaction, and technical design support within a highly collaborative design-build environment.

What You'll Do:

Client Design & Selections

  • Guide homeowners through product and finish selections including cabinetry, countertops, tile, flooring, plumbing fixtures, lighting, paint colors, and other interior finishes.
  • Educate clients on product options, features, benefits, and investment considerations.
  • Create engaging presentation materials and visual design concepts.
  • Participate in client meetings and help document project decisions.
  • Coordinate product samples, vendor resources, and selection documentation.
  • Obtain product pricing and maintain accurate selection records in Buildertrend.
  • Ensure selections are completed on schedule and support project budgets.

Design Team Collaboration

  • Participate in project briefing meetings, design charrettes, and project planning sessions.
  • Assist with site measurements and as-built documentation using Chief Architect.
  • Support Design Leads and Architects throughout the design process.
  • Collaborate with team members to deliver an exceptional client experience.

Technical Design Support

  • Create and maintain as-built drawings.
  • Assist with permit preparation and project documentation.
  • Conduct project-specific research related to zoning, easements, lot restrictions, historic districts, flood zones, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Perform drawing quality reviews and document management tasks.

Continuous Improvement

  • Support design department initiatives and process improvements.
  • Assist with Buildertrend and project management tool development.
  • Participate in product research and evaluation through Sun Design's Launch Lab.
  • Contribute to training, process development, and department growth.


What We're Looking For:

Required Qualifications:

  • Degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Architecture, or a related field.
  • Strong design sensibility and understanding of residential interiors.
  • Excellent communication and client relationship skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of residential remodeling, kitchen and bath, or design-build experience.
  • Experience with Chief Architect software.
  • Experience with Buildertrend or similar construction management software.
  • Knowledge of residential construction methods, materials, and finishes.
  • Industry certifications or pursuit of certifications such as CAPS, AKBD, CKD, NCIDQ, ASID, or related credentials.
