About the Job

Steinmann Prosthetics & Orthotics is a family-owned, patient-centered prosthetic and orthotic practice serving New Mexico communities for over 20 years. We operate clinics in Las Cruces and Alamogordo, providing advanced orthotic and prosthetic care with a focus on compassion, innovation, and clinical excellence.


As we continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced Certified Prosthetist-Orthotist (CPO) to join our clinical team. This role provides hands-on involvement in patient evaluation, treatment planning, device design, fabrication, and fitting. You will work closely with physicians, therapists, and internal clinical and administrative teams to deliver high-quality, individualized patient care.


This is a full-time, on-site position, working across our Las Cruces and Alamogordo clinics.


Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive patient evaluations and clinical assessments across pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations
  • Develop and document individualized prosthetic and orthotic treatment plans
  • Design, prescribe, fabricate, fit, and adjust custom prosthetic and orthotic devices
  • Take accurate anatomical measurements, impressions, and perform device modeling
  • Fabricate and modify devices in-house using advanced materials and fabrication techniques
  • Assess gait, function, alignment, and device fit; make modifications to optimize patient outcomes
  • Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary care teams regarding patient treatment and progress
  • Document all clinical findings, treatment plans, and outcomes in the medical record in a timely and accurate manner
  • Educate patients and caregivers on device use, care, wear schedules, and expectations
  • Ensure compliance with BOC/ABC standards, clinical best practices, and applicable regulatory requirements
  • Support clinic workflow, scheduling coordination, and follow-up care as needed


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (required); Master’s Degree in Prosthetics & Orthotics or related field (preferred)
  • 0-3 years of clinical experience as a Certified Prosthetist and/or Orthotist
  • Active ABC or BOC certification as CP, CO, or CPO
  • Strong clinical judgment and patient-centered care approach
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Moderate physical activity required, including lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally and 25 lbs regularly
  • Comfort working with fabrication materials, shop equipment, and clinical tools
  • Strong documentation skills and attention to detail in a regulated healthcare environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with patients, caregivers, and clinical partners


Nice to Have

  • Experience with both prosthetic and orthotic patient populations
  • Experience working in a small practice or multi-clinic environment
  • Familiarity with in-house fabrication workflows and advanced materials
  • Experience collaborating closely with physical therapy and rehabilitation teams
