Overhead Crane Field Service Technician
Job Summary:
This position requires a hands-on individual with experience in electrical and mechanical maintenance who will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining overhead cranes and hoisting systems at customer sites. The technician will ensure that all equipment operates safely and efficiently to meet production demands.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, repairs, and upgrades on overhead cranes, hoists, and related equipment.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control systems on lifting equipment.
- Provide service reports documenting the status of the equipment and repairs performed.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of electronic service forms and reports using a company-provided phone and computer.
- Collaborate with the service department and customers to provide high-quality service and resolve technical issues.
- Maintain compliance with safety protocols and company standards while working in production environments.
- Travel to customer sites, with some overnight stays required, to deliver service and support.
- Maintain equipment and tools necessary for completing service work.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 1-2 years of experience as a crane service technician or in a related trade (electrical, mechanical, industrial maintenance).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to learn and apply mechanical, electrical, and industrial skills.
- Willingness to travel and work in a variety of production environments, including overnight travel when needed.
- Proficient in using a company phone, computer, and software to complete electronic forms.
- Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays when required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand/walk for up to 95% of the workday.
- Lift and carry up to 40-50 pounds unassisted.
- Frequently squat, twist, reach, climb, and bend.
- Ability to push/pull materials with equipment assistance.
- Maintain hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills.
- Possess adequate depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to hear.
Working Conditions:
- Must be comfortable working at significant heights.
- Exposure to varying environmental conditions, including hot and cold temperatures.
