Criminal Defense and Restraining Order Associate Attorney

A premier small boutique law firm in San Jose is looking for a Criminal Defense Attorney to join our San Jose Office.

About the Job

Criminal Defense Attorney- must have strong organizational, communication, and multi-tasking skills. Candidate must be a team player and exhibit strong work ethic and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks with close attention to detail, accuracy and timeliness. We are a client-centered law firm, and this position will have a lot of client interaction - so be caring, compassionate and human.

We handle state level adult criminal cases in Santa Clara County, and also handle both sides of Domestic Violence and Civil Harassment Restraining Order cases.

Requirements

  • Must be well organized and very detail-oriented to ensure excellent judgment and make important decisions within the scope of their duties on a daily basis.
  • Ability to juggle multiple activities and work under pressure and take full ownership of assigned tasks and cases.
  • Possess a general understanding of litigation issues, subpoena process, trial preparation and familiarity with trial rules
  • Must have experience with legal research and writing, including drafting pleadings and briefs
  • Proven working experience as an attorney
  • Familiarity with Criminal law, legal procedures and court system
  • Proficiency in MS Office and experience with Clio, Green Filing, Adobe Pro, Outlook and other software applications
  • Must be a team player and work well with others

Responsibilities

  • Knowledge of litigation, can ready pleadings for filing, organize document productions, calendar deadlines, and communicate effectively with attorneys, clients and the Court.
  • Create and prepare legal records including pleadings, motions and manage discovery documents
  • Gather, analyze, organize and copy materials for use as evidence in legal proceedings; including exhibits, pleadings, and interrogatories confirming case status
  • Experience appearing in Court
  • Arrange for the filing of court documents
  • Knowledge of constitution, legal terminology, regulations and court system
  • Ad hoc duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Current State Bar of California Member

Successful candidate will have comprehensive knowledge of legal documents, be highly organized, detail-oriented, and be able to multi-task.
