Help build the next phase of SquareOne Villages!
About SquareOne
SquareOne Villages (SOV) is a community land trust based with a mission of creating democratic communities with homes that are permanently affordable and environmentally sustainable. We envision our villages and workplace as environments in which people from all backgrounds and abilities are welcomed, included, and valued. Our work began in 2012 as a grassroots effort to create an alternative, non-congregate shelter known as Opportunity Village. We’ve since adopted a community land trust model and specialize in developing permanently affordable housing co-ops. Over the last seven years we have developed and refined our housing model through the completion of four housing co-ops in Lane County. Earlier this year we opened our largest housing development to date, with 70 new resident-owned homes at Peace Village Co-op.
Having built a strong initial track record—while also influencing recent changes to existing state subsidy programs to be inclusive of housing co-ops—we now find ourselves with a growing housing development pipeline and an organization with budding potential.
Job Description
With an upcoming Executive Director (ED) transition, we are looking to add a key leadership position to help build the next phase of SquareOne Villages. We are seeking a motivated individual to help build and sustain our organizational capacity to support our ambitious aspirations to reimagine housing. As the organization grows, the COO will be responsible for establishing the people, processes, facilities, and systems required to meet demand while maintaining a fiscally responsible and healthy culture in which all employees can thrive.
The ideal candidate will have excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills with significant experience in housing, along with a strong interest in pursuing an outside-the-box approach. Candidates with experience in other fields that have demonstrated a strong capacity for developing organizations/businesses to excel to meet their potential will also be considered.
