Job Responsibilities

• Prepare patient charts before provider examinations.
• Prepare and room patients for examinations and procedures.
• Obtain and document vital signs, medical histories, medications, and other relevant patient information.
• Assist providers during examinations and in-office procedures.
• Explain procedures and clinical instructions to patients.
• Assist with fluoroscopy and C-arm operation during interventional pain procedures.
• Learn and consistently follow sterile technique and infection-control protocols.
• Prepare sterile procedure trays, supplies, medications, and treatment areas.
• Maintain the sterile field and assist providers throughout procedures.
• Perform EKGs and blood draws as needed.
• Monitor patients before, during, and after procedures as directed.
• Ensure examination and procedure rooms are clean, organized, properly stocked, and ready for use.
• Clean and disinfect equipment and treatment areas according to established protocols.
• Complete administrative and clerical duties when needed.
• Follow HIPAA requirements when accessing, documenting, and sharing patient information.
• Maintain patient, employee, and business confidentiality.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Current Certified Medical Assistant certification required.
• At least one year of medical assisting experience preferred; qualified new graduates will be considered.
• Must be comfortable learning how to safely operate and assist with a C-arm during pain-management procedures.
• Must be willing and able to learn and maintain proper sterile technique.
• Pain-management, procedural, surgical, or C-arm experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
• Knowledge of general administrative and clerical procedures.
• Ability to multitask, remain organized, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to follow clinical instructions and established safety protocols.
• Friendly and professional demeanor with a positive attitude.
• Excellent patient-service skills.
• Strong written, verbal, telephone, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to maintain the confidentiality of protected and private information.
• Dependable, punctual, and committed to working collaboratively as part of a healthcare team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience assisting with interventional pain-management procedures.
• Experience with fluoroscopy or C-arm equipment.
• Experience preparing sterile fields and assisting with sterile procedures.
• Phlebotomy and EKG experience.
• Current Basic Life Support certification.
