Job Overview: 

We are seeking a talented and experienced Embedded Systems / Firmware Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining firmware for embedded systems. The Embedded Systems / Firmware Engineer will work closely with hardware engineers and other team members to ensure the successful integration of firmware with hardware components. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Design, develop, and maintain firmware for embedded systems. 
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers to define system requirements and specifications. 
  • Develop and execute test plans to ensure the functionality and reliability of firmware. 
  • Debug and troubleshoot firmware and hardware issues. 
  • Optimize firmware performance for efficiency and resource usage. 
  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements in embedded systems and firmware development. 
  • Participate in code reviews and provide feedback to improve the quality of the codebase. 
  • Develop and maintain documentation related to firmware design, development, and testing. 
  • Communicate project status, challenges, and successes to stakeholders in a clear and timely manner. 
  • Execute additional tasks and projects as required by your manager, ensuring they are completed professionally and within deadlines. 

 

Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. 
  • Proven experience as an Embedded Systems / Firmware Engineer or in a similar role. 
  • Strong proficiency in programming languages such as C and C++. 
  • Experience with embedded systems development tools and environments. 
  • Knowledge of microcontroller and microprocessor architectures. 
  • Familiarity with communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, UART, and CAN. 
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with a keen attention to detail. 
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. 
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. 
  • Experience with version control systems such as Git. 
  • Familiarity with data privacy regulations and best practices. 

 

Please note that this is a consultant position, meaning your duties will be on standby until a client requests your services. Hours and responsibilities may vary based on client needs. As an employee of SpecialT Tech, you will be compensated according to your contract.  

Salary

$90,000 - $120,000 per year
