Description

Mental Wellness Program Summary: Spark’s Mental Wellness Program increases health equity by engaging skilled mental health volunteers to provide quality, accessible and affordable mental health services to people experiencing barriers to care. Services include individual, couples and group counseling, partner agency support, clinical supervision and workforce development services as well as continuing education. 


Position Summary:  This role provides leadership and oversight for youth-focused mental wellness initiatives throughout Southern Colorado, with primary responsibility for the implementation and coordination of the school-based mental wellness programming and support of the SoCo Youth Mental Wellness Task Force. This position builds and maintains collaborative partnerships with schools, universities and community organizations to expand access to mental health resources while fostering meaningful youth engagement and leadership.  The role also provides limited clinical supervision and operational support as needed, serving as a collaborative member of the Mental Wellness Program team. 

The ideal candidate has experience in mental health, behavioral health, psychology, counseling, social work, human services, education, youth development, public health, or other related fields with a demonstrated commitment to improving outcomes for children, youth, and families.


Job Responsibilities:

Southern CO School-Based Initiative:

  • Oversee all aspects of school-based initiative for Pueblo / Southern Colorado, including program implementation and evaluation.
  • Lead recruitment, selection, onboarding and orientation of School-based Mental Wellness Associates (MWA)
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with university partners, school-site partners, and community organizations
  • Participate as vital part of MWP Team to ensure appropriate task and clinical supervision, support and professional development opportunities are provided to MWAs
  • Collect and report on required impact data such as hours, outcomes, outputs

Southern CO Youth Mental Health Task Force (Mission: To unite youth from diverse backgrounds to advocate for mental wellness, uplift one another, and create safe and welcoming spaces where every young person feels respected, supported, and empowered to thrive).

  • Foster an environment inclusive of authentic youth engagement, providing a trauma informed, mental health-based foundation for action and impact.
  • Attend monthly task force meetings, providing support and guidance to this youth-led group, engaging them in opportunities for leadership and decision making.
  • Provide ongoing support for task force members, assisting with implementation of ideas, connections to education opportunities and speakers, financial oversight of program budget and other assistance as needed.
  • Collect and report on required impact data such as hours, outcomes, outputs

Other Potential Duties: 

  • Occasionally answer client support line calls when the active manager is out of the office or requires additional support. 
  • Serve as a back-up clinical supervisor for school-based interns in the case that volunteers cannot provide clinical supervision (if qualified)
  • Contribute to grant writing content to support growth and continuation of youth-based mental wellness work in CO. 


Desired Qualifications: 

  • Professional experience in mental health or behavioral health, human services, healthcare, education, social services, youth-serving organizations, or a related field. 
  • Experience working with or advocating for children, adolescents, and young adults is strongly preferred.
  • Passion for youth wellness, collaboration and program development
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Demonstrated ability to build and sustain strong, productive relationships with diverse individuals and partner organizations
  • High level of emotional intelligence and integrity, sound judgement and the ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Grant writing experience a plus!

Salary

$26 - $28 per hour
