Position Summary: The Mental Wellness Program (MWP) increases health equity by engaging skilled mental health volunteers to provide quality, accessible and affordable mental health services to people experiencing barriers to care. Services include individual and group counseling, community partnerships, workforce development initiatives and free / low cost continuing education sessions.
The Denver based MWP Manager is a full-time position focused on growing and diversifying the MWP within the City and County of Denver through targeted volunteer and partner organization engagement. Additionally, this position is responsible for managing Spark’s mental wellness support line and ensuring clients are connected to volunteers within the MWP or referred out to other partner agencies better able to meet the respective needs of clients.

Salary Range: $65,000 - 70,000 annually plus benefits
Responsibilities:
Client Support Line:
- Respond promptly and compassionately to incoming client phone calls and online inquiries seeking counseling services.
- Assess client eligibility for Spark's Mental Wellness Program (MWP) based on established program criteria.
- Coordinate referrals by forwarding eligible client intake documentation to MWP volunteer clinicians to initiate counseling services.
- Connect clients whose needs fall outside Spark's scope of services with appropriate community resources and referral partners.
- Maintain a current understanding of community mental health resources and service offerings to ensure accurate and effective referrals.
Volunteer Management and Stewardship
- Manage the volunteer screening and onboarding process by adhering to established procedures, including conducting interviews, reference checks, background checks, and other due diligence activities.
- Match volunteer clinicians with appropriate service opportunities based on their experience, areas of expertise, interests, availability, and program needs, including host site placements, individual counseling referrals, and support group facilitation.
- Foster strong, collaborative relationships with Mental Wellness Program (MWP) volunteers by providing ongoing communication, guidance, recognition, and support to promote engagement and long-term retention.
- Collaborate with the MWP team to plan and execute an annual volunteer appreciation and recognition event that celebrates volunteer contributions and strengthens community.
- Provide backup clinical supervision to MSW graduate students as needed.
- Support Spark’s Workforce Development Manager with continuing education offerings (Spark Knowledge) for MWP volunteers.
Community Outreach and Engagement:
- Actively participate in community outreach events, presentations, and other public-facing opportunities to increase awareness of Spark’s MWP and cultivate strategic partnerships.
- Lead and support volunteer recruitment efforts to expand and diversify Spark's network of mental health clinicians.
- Collaborate with community partners, schools, and other stakeholders to identify emerging mental health needs, service gaps, and opportunities to improve access to care.
- Coordinate and maintain Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with community partner organizations and schools to support successful program implementation, collaboration and role clarity.
Mental Wellness Task Force of Northern Colorado:
- Co-chair the Northern Colorado Mental Wellness Task Force, ensuring the work stays aligned with the group’s mission, goals, and priorities
- Recruit, onboard, and engage volunteer task force members to strengthen participation, retention, and shared ownership
- Facilitate collaboration across task force members and guide planning and decision-making in alignment with the mission statement
- Cultivate and maintain partnerships with wellness organizations across Northern Colorado to support programming and special events
- Manage recurring meeting logistics, including monthly invitations, calendars, and follow-up communications
- Develop and distribute monthly agendas; ensure meeting notes/summaries are completed and shared in a timely manner
- Coordinate regular check-ins with the Southern Colorado Mental Wellness Task Force to support statewide alignment and quarterly cross-region meetings.
Evaluation and Reporting:
- Utilize established data systems to track program outputs, outcomes, impact, and progress toward organizational goals and performance measures.
- Support grant reporting by collecting, analyzing, and communicating program data and participating in meetings with funders and individual donors as needed.
- Coordinate the implementation of client, volunteer clinician, and community partner evaluations; analyze findings and prepare reports to inform program improvement and demonstrate program impact.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) preferred with a minimum of two (2) years of relevant professional experience. Candidates with master's degrees in other behavioral health disciplines (e.g., counseling, psychology) will also be considered.
- Bilingual Spanish/English proficiency is highly preferred.
- Experience recruiting, managing, or coordinating volunteers in either a professional or volunteer capacity.
- Demonstrated ability to build, cultivate, and sustain collaborative relationships with diverse individuals, community partners, schools, and organizations.
- High degree of emotional intelligence, professionalism, integrity, adaptability, and sound judgment, with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
- Strong commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, with experience working effectively across diverse communities.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with common computer applications and the ability to quickly learn new technology platforms. Experience with Google Workspace and Notion is highly preferred.
