Spaceline Technologies is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Washington State. Spaceline engineers and builds complex products for commercial and government customers including the aerospace, cryogenics, industrial gas, and defense sectors. MECHANICAL ENGINEER (FLUIDS AND STRUCTURES)


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Apply engineering fundamentals in the design of fluids and structural products.
  • Perform end to end fluids and thermal analysis of fluid systems and size components.
  • Create fluid system schematics, piping and instrumentation diagrams, and parts lists.
  • Model fluid systems and structures in CAD and create fabrication drawings (Solid Works).
  • Perform structural finite element analysis using ANSYS.
  • Perform thermodynamic analysis of power and refrigeration cycles.
  • Author test and activation procedures of fluid and structural systems.
  • Author design reviews and present to Spaceline and external customer staff.
  • End to end project ownership including design, analysis, procurement, fabrication, and test.
  • Work with a variety of hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment safely and effectively.
  • Work directly with technicians to build and test Spaceline’s products.
  • Perform a variety of related duties in support of manufacturing, assembly, and test of Spaceline’s products.
  • Collaborate with other Spaceline team members on solutions.
  • Maintain a positive attitude while working with a small nimble team in a high productivity environment.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering or other related disciplines.
  • 1+ years of experience performing fluid and structural system engineering in a build environment.


PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience working with cryogenic fluids (LN2, LOX, LH2, LHe) and high pressure gases.
  • Mechanical and electrical systems experience in an industrial environment.
  • Ability to utilize power and hand tools and inspection equipment.
  • Working knowledge of ASME Pressure Vessel and Process Piping code.
  • Knowledge of hazardous system operations.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing techniques including machining and welding.
  • Previous CAD and ANSYS experience.


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift heavy objects up to 25lbs. unassisted.
  • Typically exposed to work in outdoor environments – heat, cold, rain.
  • Willing to work extended hours and weekends, as needed.
  • Travel to customer sites may be required, 10% of time.

  • To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

$80,000 - $110,000 per year
