Description

Position: Field Installation Specialist

Location: Field-based (travel required); yard based in Mineral Wells, TX

Reports to: Field Crew Lead or Field Foreman

Position Summary:

Southwest Fluid Products, Inc. (“SWFP”) is seeking a Field Installation Specialist to support the field installation, assembly, fabrication, repair, and commissioning support of water and wastewater treatment projects.

This is a hands-on, field-based role that requires a strong work ethic, mechanical aptitude, willingness to travel, and the ability to work safely and productively as part of a field crew. The Field Installation Specialist supports installation work under the direction of a Field Crew Lead or Field Foreman.

This role includes multiple skill levels, from entry-level field support to advanced installation and craft capability. Advancement is based on demonstrated skill, safety, quality, consistency, and field performance — not tenure alone.

Key Responsibilities:

1) Field Installation and Assembly

  • Support installation of water and wastewater treatment plant systems, components, piping, tanks, equipment, and related infrastructure.
  • Assist with layout, fit-up, assembly, bolt-up, anchoring, leveling, and alignment of project components.
  • Install and support mechanical systems in accordance with drawings, specifications, and direction from field leadership.
  • Assist with startup, repair, refurbishment, and field modification work as required.

2) Field Fabrication and Mechanical Work

  • Perform grinding, cutting, torch work, drilling, material preparation, and basic fabrication tasks as needed.
  • Assist with pipe fit-up, tank installation, structural components, platforms, supports, and related field work.
  • Perform welding tasks only when qualified and directed by field leadership.
  • Support tank building and other SWFP-specific installation methods as trained.

3) Drawings, MTOLs, and Field Layout Support

  • Read and work from drawings, specifications, and installation details based on skill level.
  • Assist with use of MTOLs and material staging for field projects.
  • Identify missing, damaged, incorrect, or incomplete materials and report issues promptly.
  • Support field leadership in confirming that installed work matches project requirements.

4) Safety and Quality

  • Work safely at all times and follow SWFP safety policies, site requirements, and field leadership direction.
  • Participate in daily JSAs, toolbox talks, and jobsite safety practices.
  • Perform work to meet or exceed SWFP quality standards.
  • Report unsafe conditions, quality concerns, damaged materials, or installation issues immediately.

5) Team Support and Jobsite Readiness

  • Assist Field Crew Leads and Field Foremen as directed.
  • Help maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
  • Support scaffold building, housekeeping, material handling, loading, unloading, and general site preparation.
  • Maintain a professional attitude on job sites, including limited and respectful customer interaction when required.

Skill Levels and Classification:

The Field Installation Specialist role at SWFP includes multiple skill levels. Placement within a level is based on demonstrated capability, field performance, safety, quality, and ability to work independently, and not tenure alone.

1) Level I (Entry Level at SWFP)

  • Supports field crews with basic installation, material handling, site preparation, housekeeping, and general labor tasks.
  • Learns SWFP field standards, safety expectations, installation methods, tools, and equipment.
  • Performs basic grinding, material preparation, bolt-up, assembly support, and cleanup tasks under supervision.
  • Assists with loading, unloading, staging, and organizing materials.
  • Demonstrates reliability, coachability, and willingness to learn.

2) Level II (Intermediate)

  • Performs field installation tasks with increasing independence and accuracy.
  • Reads and follows drawings, installation details, and field direction with limited supervision.
  • Assists with fit-up, alignment, layout support, pipe installation, equipment setting, and tank-related work.
  • Understands and works from MTOLs with support from field leadership.
  • Identifies material issues, installation conflicts, and quality concerns and reports them promptly.
  • Demonstrates consistent safety habits, quality workmanship, and dependable productivity.

3) Level III (Advanced)

  • Performs advanced field installation, mechanical, fabrication, and repair tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Reads and interprets drawings independently and works from MTOLs accurately.
  • Supports complex installation sequencing, field modifications, and troubleshooting.
  • Assists in training and supporting lower-level Field Installation Specialists.
  • Demonstrates strong ownership of safety, quality, productivity, and jobsite professionalism.
  • May perform qualified welding or specialized fabrication tasks when tested, qualified, and directed by field leadership.

Advancement and Evaluation:

1) Skill level is evaluated through field performance, safety record, quality of work, technical ability, and consistency.

2) Advancement is based on demonstrated skill, reliability, coachability, leadership potential, and ability to work with increasing independence.
