To shepherd a classroom of students and teach in a self-contained classroom with excellent classroom management skills, self-control, a passion for education that cultivates love and learning, time management skills to complete assignments and lessons within the given campus day, and incredible communication skills (both verbal and written, to create relationships with staff, students, and parents alike).
Position Objective:
At Southwest Christian Academy, we are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher to shepherd and guide a classroom of students, teaching in a self-contained classroom setting. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional classroom management, self-control, and a passion for fostering a love of learning in students. The role requires excellent time management skills to complete assignments and lessons within the given campus day, along with strong communication abilities (both verbal and written) to build relationships with staff, students, and parents. This teacher will be integral in creating an enriching and engaging educational environment where students thrive both academically and spiritually.
Teaching Details:
A positive attitude, strong classroom management, and a collaborative spirit are key to this position. Teachers are expected to uphold the homeschooling philosophy and work closely with parents as co-teachers, respecting their educational priorities and authority. Encouragement is a cornerstone of our teaching approach, and incentive-based structures are preferred over consequence-based models. Teachers will be given curriculum at the start of the summer to plan for the academic year. Teachers and parents partner together for the success of the homeschool student.
Class sizes typically range from 15 students in Pre-K to 18 students in Kindergarten and up to 20 students in 1st through 6th grade.
Campus Days Commitments:
Teachers are expected to arrive by 8:00 AM on each campus day. The academic year runs weekly from September to May, and teachers should anticipate some light hours outside of class for grading and communication. There will also be an expectation for approximately 30 minutes of office hours each week to connect with parents and staff as needed.
Training and Annual Obligations:
Mandatory training for all faculty members occurs in early August before the school year begins, with ongoing quarterly sessions as needed. These training sessions will be scheduled in advance and communicated clearly. Virtual training and certifications will be provided before the start of the school year. Participation in weekly team-building meetings and company events will also be encouraged to build connections within the staff. As a ministry-driven school, we expect active involvement in school events and parties to foster a positive school culture both on and off campus.
Weekly Requirements:
Teachers will be responsible for their lesson plans. Teachers are responsible for providing content and photos for the weekly parent touch-point emails. Teachers will also be required to update student attendance, behavior, and other important details using the systems provided. Being available for emails, phone calls, or in-person meetings with parents is vital to addressing any concerns, whether academic or behavioral. Teachers should maintain open lines of communication with parents to support student growth and development. As we value the partnership with parents, this communication is essential for fostering strong relationships and shaping students’ academic and character development.
Compensation:
