Job Summary:
We are looking for a dedicated Prep Cook to join our team. As a Prep Cook, you will be responsible for the preparation of ingredients for the cooking process. The Prep Cook will be required to perform basic cooking duties, monitor stock levels, and address culinary needs as they arise. This position will also have a customer facing aspect and be working in an open kitchen. In addition to traditional prep duties, you will make items to order.
We are a new restaurant and have openings for full time, part time and everything in-between. We can offer morning, mid-day or evening hours, 7 days per week, please do not hesitate to inquire. In addition to an hourly wage, this position will also receive digital tips.
Duties and responsibilities include:
- Following prep lists created by the Executive Chef
- Measuring ingredients and seasonings and preparing cooking ingredients
- Receiving orders and ensuring all food items are properly stored and easily accessible.
- Assisting chefs in preparing food and attending to any culinary tasks that arise.
- Distributing plates to be served and preparing takeaway packages for customers.
- Maintaining a clean, orderly, and sanitized kitchen
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Manual dexterity to operate cooking tools such as knives.
- Ability to prioritize job duties and manage time effectively.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Active Food Handlers certification required to be obtained within 6 months of employment.
- Willingness to comply with all food safety procedures.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Frequent bending, reaching, and stooping to retrieve ingredients, use kitchen equipment, and complete prep tasks.
- Must be able to lift and carry items up to 50 pounds, including bulk ingredients and kitchen tools.
- Manual dexterity required for chopping, slicing, and handling kitchen utensils and equipment.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment with exposure to hot surfaces, sharp tools, and varying temperatures.
- Work may involve exposure to moderate noise levels and occasional temperature changes.
