JOB SUMMARY:
The Social Skills Teacher Assistant is responsible for supporting the lead teacher in providing a safe, non-threatening environment conducive to helping students learn social skills and develop friendships while upholding Social Motion Skills’ standards and core values.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Follow teacher instruction and guidance during lessons and activities
- Assist in general supervision and behavior management of students
- Demonstrate, model, and positively reinforce desired behaviors
- Interact with and encourage student participation during lessons and activities

Lead student activities and coach students’ social interactions during weekly facilitated game time
- Accompany students on monthly community outings
- Facilitate social interaction among students during monthly community outings
- Present subject matter to students under the guidance of the lead teacher
- Utilize basic behavioral strategies such as prompting, modeling, and video modeling during lessons
- Adhere to a high level of professional and ethical standards
- Other duties as assigned
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associates degree or minimum of 2 years college hours preferred
- At least 1 year of experience working with individuals with autism and similar disabilities
- Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience
- 21 years or older
