Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)

Role overview:

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) supports daily clinic operations by assisting providers with patient care and handling essential administrative tasks. The role is key to maintaining efficient workflow and delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.


Key Duties:

  • Room patients, obtain vital signs, and update medical histories
  • Assist providers during exams & procedures
  • Perform basic clinical task (injections, EKGs, lab draws/POCT)
  • Manage patient communication (calls, messages, patient portal)
  • Schedule appointments and verify insurance information
  • Process referrals, prior authorizations, and medication refills
  • Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic health record (EHR)
  • Ensure exam rooms are stocked, clean, and prepared


Requirements:

  • Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Basic clinical skills and knowledge of medical terminology
  • Experience with EHR systems (NextGen preferred)
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
