Therapist (Adolescent Focus) We are seeking a compassionate and skilled therapist to provide trauma-informed mental health counseling to adolescents (ages 10–18) involved with mental health, public school, and juvenile justice systems. This role emphasizes the use of Experiential Therapy modalities to promote healing, emotional growth, and resilience. The therapist will build and maintain strong collaborative relationships with youth, families, and community partners through consistent documentation, timely communication, and engagement with SOAR's coaching team.

SOAR is a community-based, trauma-informed organization dedicated to empowering multicultural and marginalized youth ages 7–19. Through innovative programming that blends coaching, mentorship, education support, community service, adventure therapy, and engaging activities, SOAR meets the unique needs of young people navigating complex life circumstances. The majority of youth served by SOAR have current or past involvement with the juvenile justice system.


Position Overview – Therapist (RISE Therapy Program):

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Clinician to join our RISE Therapy Program team. This role involves providing trauma-informed, experiential, and adventure-based therapy to adolescents facing mental health challenges, school disengagement, and system involvement. The Clinician will conduct assessments, deliver individual and group therapy, and collaborate closely with families, community partners, and internal SOAR team members.

Other key responsibilities include providing participating in team meetings, and supporting youth during adventure-based therapeutic activities. This position requires strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills, as well as flexibility with scheduling.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and group therapy using experiential and adventure-based approaches
  • Complete mental health assessments and develop individualized treatment plans
  • Monitor and communicate client progress to internal teams and external partners
  • Facilitate therapeutic activities in both traditional and outdoor settings
  • Manage crisis situations and refer clients to higher levels of care when needed
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with program and licensing standards
  • Participate in regular team meetings and ongoing professional development
  • Support family engagement through coaching and regular communication

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in counseling, social work, marriage and family therapy, or a related field
  • Active Colorado licensure (LCSW, LCMFT, LPC, LAC, or equivalent) or license-eligible status (LPCC)
  • Minimum of one year of supervised post-master’s experience preferred
  • Background in mental health and/or substance use treatment preferred
  • Strongly preferred: experience in adventure therapy, experiential education, or outdoor behavioral health
  • Experience working with youth and/or families, especially those from diverse or system-involved backgrounds
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and flexibility in scheduling
  • Reliable personal vehicle for work-related travel (valid Colorado driver’s license and proof of insurance required)
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish strongly preferred

Working Conditions:

  • Occasional evening and weekend work required
  • Regular travel throughout the Denver Metro area
  • Ability to independently manage schedule and caseload
  • Work performed in both office and outdoor/adventure-based settings

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, stand, and drive for extended periods
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid certification
