To provide trauma-informed consistent youth coaching, educational support, and adventure/experiential activities to diverse adolescent clients between the ages of 7 and 19, involved with mental health, public school, court, and juvenile justice systems, To establish and maintain strong working relationships with SOAR staff, youth, families, and other key figures through regular communication and timely documentation.

About SOAR:

Seeing Our Adolescents Rise (SOAR) is a community-based organization that works with multicultural and marginalized youth, ages 7-19, using innovative and comprehensive approaches. SOAR provides coaching/mentorship, education support, community service opportunities, events & activities, and adventure therapy to a population whose needs influence their ability to navigate daily life. The majority of youth in SOAR programming have faced challenges such as involvement with the juvenile justice system.


Responsibilities:

The Adolescent Engagement Coach at SOAR is responsible for providing support services to assigned youth. This includes coaching/mentorship, education support, community engagement, experiential activities, and facilitating access to community resources. The team member will work to build positive relationships with assigned youth and their families, addressing areas such as home environment, educational goals, employment opportunities, and community involvement. The coach will assist youth in setting and achieving personal goals, advocating for themselves, and developing life skills. They will manage a caseload of clients, maintain accurate documentation, and collaborate with the professional team.


Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., psychology, social work, education)

- Experience in working with youth or families

- Strong communication and organizational skills

- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends

- Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle

- Proficiency in computer applications

- CPR/First Aid certification is preferred

- MUST BE AVAILABLE TO WORK 2-3 THURSDAY EVENINGS AND FRIDAY AFTERNOONS EACH MONTH

Work Environment:

This position may involve evening and weekend shifts, driving within the community, participating in outdoor activities, and lifting heavy objects. Candidates should be able to manage their time effectively and fulfill job duties promptly.
