About the Role
SmartMoving is seeking an experienced and highly autonomous Head of Partnerships to lead the strategic development and execution of our new Partner Program. This senior role will identify and negotiate exclusive or preferential agreements with key players in the moving services industry, ensuring that our customers derive unique benefits and enhanced profits from utilizing SmartMoving even beyond the (incredible) value of our core platform.
Reporting directly to the VP, Product, this role will operate with significant independence, representing SmartMoving with some of the industry’s most influential organizations. The Head of Partnerships will evaluate partnership priorities, secure transformative deals, and drive their success as businesses within SmartMoving through seamless cross-functional coordination with our product, sales, marketing and customer-facing teams.
What You'll Do
- Strategy & Prioritization: Define and execute a high-impact partnership strategy aligned with the company’s objectives, focusing on exclusive or preferential partnerships that differentiate SmartMoving and enhance customer value.
- Partner Identification & Outreach: Systematically identify, evaluate, and prioritize top-tier potential partners across moving services and adjacent industries; conduct rigorous market and competitive analysis to inform targeting.
- Negotiation & Deal Structuring: Lead end-to-end negotiations, crafting and securing mutually valuable agreements for us and our partners.
- Cross-Functional Execution: Once an agreement has been signed, serve as the business lead within the company for that partnership. You will build operating plans and revenue goals; partner with product and development to ensure the product we build matches your vision; and work with our go-to-market teams to ensure we have the people, materials and knowledge to execute effectively.
- Performance Monitoring & Optimization: Establish and track key metrics—revenue, retention, adoption, partner satisfaction—and use that data to optimize programs and pivot strategies as needed.
- Internal Advocacy & Leadership: Serve as the internal champion for partnership initiatives, translating partner insights into compelling business cases, aligning stakeholder buy-in, and reporting progress to executive leadership.
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate is strategic, self-driven, and excels in both negotiations and execution. Specifically:
- Proven record (typically 7–10+ years) of leading impactful strategic partnerships in comparable industries, preferably with experience in SaaS, logistics, or moving services.
- Exceptional negotiation and deal-making skills, with experience structuring exclusive or high-value partnerships.
- Outstanding cross-functional collaboration capability; able to navigate complexity, solve problems, and drive results in partnership activation.
- Strategic thinker with excellent analytical and communication skills; comfortable operating autonomously while aligned with company goals.
- Executive presence: confident in representing SmartMoving externally at high-stakes meetings and maintaining relationships with senior executives.
- Metrics-driven: adept at defining, tracking, and communicating success metrics, able to pivot tactics based on insights.
- A builder: You’ll launch this effort largely from scratch, so you have experience building strategically important initiatives with little prior structure.
