CONTRACT STATUS: Independent Contractor (1099)
CONTRACT TERMS: Time-limited, grant-funded contract through September 2026, with no guarantee of renewal beyond the current funding period
LOCATION: Remote (Must reside in Northwest Ohio)
HOURS: ~20-32 hrs/week

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Community Outreach Coordinator (Contractor) will identify and cultivate relationships with key stakeholders to increase SMART Recovery’s accessibility and availability to residents of Northwest Ohio.
INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR RELATIONSHIP
- SMART Recovery defines project goals, deliverables, and reporting expectations, but the contractor retains full control of when, how, and in what sequence work is performed, unless tied to a scheduled event.
- Contractors are not eligible for employee benefits.
- Contractors are responsible for their own taxes, insurance, transportation, and equipment. Approved mileage expenses will be reimbursed.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Training & Orientation
- Complete SMART Recovery 4-Point Facilitator Training if not already certified.
- Learn SMART program fundamentals and outreach expectations.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Conduct outreach to community organizations including, but not limited to, RCOs, treatment centers, courts, community coalitions, recovery residences, educational institutions, and faith-based organizations.
- Promote participation in SMART facilitator training opportunities to fill grant-funded training cohorts.
Event Participation & Community Prescence
- Attend and table at relevant community events; offer presentations where possible.
- Assist in organizing events that connect community members, facilitators, and partners.
Support for newly Trained Facilitators
- Provide early-stage support as facilitators prepare to launch meetings—sharing materials, troubleshooting barriers, and connecting them to national resources.
- Encourage facilitators to participate in SMART facilitator support offerings hosted by the National Office team.
Collaboration with Staff
- Coordinate with National Office staff to promote and fill trainings.
- Participate in agreed-upon check-ins with the Director of Outreach or designee.
Data Tracking & Reporting
- Document outreach activities and contacts in HubSpot.
- Provide concise written updates for grant reporting cycles.
Financial & Administrative Responsibilities
- Track and submit authorized outreach expenses according to grant rules.
- Submit invoices and documentation in alignment with contract terms.

WORKING CONDITIONS
- Mix of remote work and in-person outreach throughout Northwest Ohio.
- Occasional lifting of outreach materials (up to ~25 lbs).
- Travel required; contractor must provide their own reliable transportation and insurance.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Comfort with Microsoft Office and similar tools.
- Ability to adopt systems like HubSpot with training.
- Prior outreach, peer support, community engagement, or behavioral health experience preferred.
- Lives in or maintains strong connections within Northwest Ohio.
ADDITIONAL NOTES
- HubSpot experience is helpful but not required.
- Individuals who have lived experience with addictive behaviors are strongly encouraged to apply.
