Full-time | In person

New graduates welcome

Overview

Everyday moments can be big milestones. Help children reach them at Small Talk Pediatric Therapy.

We’re looking for a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant who enjoys working with children, connecting with families, and bringing creativity to therapy. Working under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist, you’ll help children develop skills for greater independence and participation in everyday life.

Whether you’re beginning your career or bringing years of experience, we’d love to meet you.

Description

Small moments. Big milestones.

Getting dressed with less help. Joining a new activity. Building coordination through play. Finding a strategy that makes a daily routine easier.

At Small Talk, these moments matter. As a COTA, you’ll help turn an individualized treatment plan into engaging experiences that support meaningful progress for children and their families.

We’re building a practice where great care and a sustainable career grow together. That means listening to clinicians, sharing ideas across disciplines, partnering with families, and continually improving how we work.

We want you to help shape that practice.

What makes Small Talk different

  • Time for the work beyond the session. Our standard full-time therapist schedule includes up to 35 hours of scheduled direct care and 5 hours for documentation and other responsibilities within a 40-hour workweek.
  • Options for your workweek. Choose from four 10-hour days or five 8-hour days, coordinated with clinic and patient needs.
  • Collaboration with your supervising OT. Share observations, discuss progress, and work together to support each child’s treatment goals.
  • A team to learn alongside. Exchange ideas with colleagues across occupational therapy, speech, physical therapy, and mental health.
  • A voice in how we grow. Bring your ideas for improving therapy sessions and the experience of children, families, and staff.
  • Support for your development. Build your skills through collaboration and annual continuing education and licensing assistance.

Your role

You’ll provide care under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist, helping children practice skills that matter in their daily lives.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Implementing individualized treatment plans developed by the supervising Occupational Therapist.
  • Providing engaging, evidence-based interventions that support goals for play, self-care, motor skills, and participation in daily routines.
  • Adapting activities within the established plan of care to fit each child’s needs, interests, and response to treatment.
  • Observing and documenting progress, sharing changes or concerns with the supervising OT, and contributing to treatment planning discussions.
  • Reinforcing family education and home strategies in coordination with the supervising OT.
  • Maintaining timely, accurate treatment documentation.
  • Preparing therapy materials and maintaining a safe, welcoming treatment environment.
  • Collaborating with teammates while practicing within your professional scope and supervision requirements.

Who we’re looking for

You enjoy connecting with children, finding creative ways to practice skills, and celebrating progress. You’re comfortable asking questions, sharing observations, and working closely with your supervising OT.

You’ll need:

  • Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
  • Current COTA certification.
  • Current Occupational Therapy Assistant licensure, or eligibility to obtain the appropriate license before starting.
  • Clear communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with families and colleagues.
  • A commitment to individualized, evidence-based pediatric care.

Pediatric or school-based experience is welcome, but not required. New graduates are encouraged to apply. Certification and licensure requirements must be met before starting clinical work.

Benefits

Our full-time benefits include:

  • Health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • 401(k) with up to a 3.5% company match.
  • 80 hours of paid time off, prorated in the first year.
  • Eight paid holidays.
  • $250 annually toward continuing education and licensing.
  • Company-paid professional liability insurance.
  • Company-paid short-term disability and group term life insurance.
  • A company laptop.

Benefits are subject to applicable eligibility requirements and plan terms.
