Description

Field Service Representative (FSR) – Unmanned & Robotic Systems

Company: Skyborne Technologies USA, LLC

Location: Northern Virginia (preferred) or Remote – East Coast U.S.

Travel: 60-70% (Domestic and International)

Compensation: $90,000 - $110,000

Be part of deploying advanced robotic systems designed to keep operators out of harm’s way while delivering mission-critical capability in the field.

About Skyborne Technologies

Skyborne Technologies develops AI-enabled kinetic robotics systems for national security missions, combining unmanned platforms, AI-assisted targeting software, and modular payloads to deliver precision effects in complex operational environments.

Modern operational environments are rapidly evolving. Small, tactically deployed robotic systems are becoming standard tools for military and security forces operating with limited personnel and support. Skyborne’s systems are designed to reduce operator exposure, increase mission effectiveness, and deliver precision effects at a low cost per shot using reusable and reloadable platforms.

Skyborne brings together aerospace engineering and U.S. Special Operations experience to design systems that are practical, scalable, and built for real-world deployment—not just demonstration.

About the Role

Skyborne Technologies is hiring a Field Service Representative to be the hands-on face of our unmanned and robotic systems in the field. You'll run live customer demonstrations, deploy and sustain systems at customer sites, train operators, and feed real-world findings back to our engineering team. This is an operationally demanding, customer-facing role for someone who is equally comfortable flying a UAS in an austere environment, troubleshooting a fault under time pressure, and briefing a customer with credibility.

If you're a former military UAS operator or an experienced defense field-service professional who wants to stay close to the mission and the hardware, this role is built for you.

Before you apply — two things to know up front:

  1. This role travels 60–70%, including international travel. A valid passport and the genuine ability and willingness to travel on short notice are required.
  2. This role requires passing a federal firearms background screen (see Eligibility below). Candidates with disqualifying history will not be able to clear it.

What You’ll Do

Customer Demonstrations & Field Operations

  • Plan and conduct customer demonstrations and evaluations, including operation of advanced robotic systems
  • Safely operate Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) and ground robotic platforms (QUGV) in field environments
  • Demonstrate system capabilities in operationally realistic scenarios
  • Represent Skyborne with professionalism and technical credibility in front of customers and partners

Deployment & Field Support

  • Support system installation, configuration, integration, and fielding at customer locations
  • Maintain operational readiness of deployed systems through inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware, software, and system-level issues in real-world environments
  • Provide in-field and remote technical support across U.S. and EU time zones

Training & Customer Enablement

  • Deliver training to operators on system use, safety, and basic maintenance
  • Develop and support training materials and fielding packages
  • Advise customers on best practices for system operation and deployment

Equipment & Logistics

  • Plan, manage, and maintain demo equipment and field kits
  • Coordinate logistics, shipping, and readiness of systems for demos and deployments
  • Manage spare parts, tools, and support equipment to ensure operational continuity

Collaboration & Feedback

  • Partner with engineering to report system performance issues and improvement opportunities
  • Support business development at trade shows and customer engagements
  • Help develop maintenance procedures, troubleshooting guides, and field processes
  • Track and document maintenance actions, service logs, and field activity

Required Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in field service, UAS operations, military, or technical roles
  • Hands-on experience operating Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS)
  • FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate (or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire)
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, or software systems
  • Strong communication skills and direct customer-facing experience
  • Ability to work independently in field environments and lift/move equipment as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Former military UAS operator, pilot, or systems operator strongly preferred
  • Experience operating tactical or military UAS platforms
  • Experience with ground robotic systems (UGV/QUGV)
  • Experience supporting field deployments or operational environments
  • Background in defense, robotics, aerospace, or similar industries
  • Active U.S. security clearance is preferred

Eligibility & Compliance

  • Work authorization: Must be a U.S. person as defined under U.S. export-control regulations (U.S. citizen, U.S. national, lawful permanent resident, asylee, or refugee).
  • Firearms screen: Must be eligible to serve as a Responsible Person under a Federal Firearms License (FFL) — i.e., at least 21, a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident, and not otherwise prohibited from possessing firearms under federal law.
  • Must be comfortable working in regulated environments involving controlled systems, equipment, and integrated payloads.

Working Conditions

  • Field-based role supporting demonstrations and deployments across U.S. and allied markets
  • 60–70% travel, domestic and international, sometimes on short notice
  • Periodic travel to Skyborne's Northern Virginia headquarters for coordination and training
  • Support delivered across U.S. and EU time zones

Compensation & Benefits

  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company contribution
  • Paid time off (PTO) and company holidays
  • Opportunity to work in a high-growth company supporting advanced operational systems
