About the Role:

We’re looking for a talented Video Editor to join the Marketing School YouTube channel. As the sole video editor on the channel, you’ll be responsible for cutting podcast episodes into digestible video content for YouTube, including the full episodes and clips of the most interesting and engaging moments. This role requires not just editing skills, but also a keen sense of what content resonates with the audience, and an understanding of digital marketing topics that Eric and Neil discuss.

In addition to editing the podcast into YouTube episodes and clips, you will also be tracking performance data, including APVs, views, click-through rates, and overall channel growth. You’ll be expected to continually improve the content and grow the channel. You’ll work closely with a social media manager to ensure content is published on time, and with another editor who will focus on short-form content.

This is a full-time position with flexible working hours, but you’ll need to be available for weekly team meetings and will need to work a couple of weekend hours consistently to ensure timely content publication. Since this is a trend-focused podcast, buffer times are minimal.

Responsibilities:

  • Video Editing: Cut podcast episodes into full YouTube episodes and interesting clips. Choose the most engaging moments to turn into YouTube clips that will resonate with the audience.
  • Content Selection: Have a natural sense of taste to know which pieces of content will perform well based on the audience's interests and engagement patterns.
  • Performance Tracking: Track video data (APVs, views, click-through rates, etc.) and provide regular reports on channel performance. Use this data to continually improve video content and grow the channel.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the social media manager to ensure all content is published on time. Collaborate with another editor focused on short-form content, but focus primarily on YouTube video editing.
  • Timely Delivery: Work on tight deadlines, ensuring that the first episode is delivered by Monday each week and that clips are posted consistently thereafter.
  • Ongoing Improvement: Continuously track and optimize video performance to drive growth on the YouTube channel. Use data and insights to improve future content and editing strategies.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Proven experience in video editing, especially with long-form content like podcasts. Ideally, you have worked in digital marketing and have an understanding of the topics discussed by Eric and Neil.
  • Editing Skills: Proficient with video editing tools and software (e.g., Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, or similar).
  • Taste & Judgment: A strong sense of what content is interesting and will resonate with an audience. You should have an eye for selecting the best moments from a podcast episode to make engaging video content.
  • Performance-Driven: Comfortable tracking and analyzing performance data (APBs, views, CTRs, etc.) and adjusting content to improve channel growth.
  • Timeliness: Ability to meet deadlines and handle quick turnarounds. Since the podcast is time-sensitive, you should be comfortable working weekends to meet content deadlines.
  • Async Communication Skills: Excellent asynchronous communication skills, with the ability to manage tasks and collaborate effectively without needing constant real-time interaction. You'll be expected to manage your time, meet deadlines, and stay aligned with the team remotely.
  • Team Player: Ability to collaborate with a social media manager and other editors in a fast-paced environment, ensuring content is posted on time and in line with channel objectives.
  • Availability: This is a full-time position, with the flexibility to work your hours but be available for weekly team meetings. Weekend work will be required to ensure timely content delivery.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Experience working with podcast content and understanding how to edit it for YouTube.
  • Familiarity with video performance tracking and using data to optimize content.
  • Prior experience working with digital marketing teams or knowledge of marketing topics.
  • A passion for digital content creation and growth.

How to Apply:

Please submit your application along with a cover letter that includes "editing is cool" as the first line. Applications without this will be disqualified.
