The Controller will provide leadership within the areas of financial reporting, financial planning & analysis, and internal controls. This position will provide oversight and management of the Accounting and Finance team’s day-to-day operations and will partner with other team members throughout Sightline in support of driving revenue growth, margin expansion, and cash flow generation.

WHAT YOU’LL DO AS A FINANCIAL CONTROLLER:

Accounting & Financial Reporting

  • Provide day-to-day leadership over financial statement preparation, month-end closing, project/contract accounting, sales & use tax, inventory, and fixed asset accounting
  • Ensure the month-end closing process is completed in a timely and accurate manner
  • Prepare, review, and distribute monthly financial statements
  • Analyze and prepare commentary on monthly financial results, including variances to forecast, budget, and prior year results
  • Prepare portions of the monthly financial package for the Executive Leadership Team (ELT)
  • Prepare selected complex accounting entries and account reconciliations
  • Review and approve journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Oversee the product costing process, including establishing material costs, labor & overhead rates, and other manufacturing costs

 

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Prepare and submit the annual financial budget to the company executive team
  • Regularly update the financial forecast and incorporate into the monthly financial package
  • Work with the CFO to prepare and distribute the company’s long-range financial model
  • Update, approve, and distribute monthly department budget results
  • Review weekly cash flow forecast and the related Actual vs. Forecast analysis
  • Develop, analyze, and report monthly Working Capital metrics (DSO, DPO, DOH, etc.)
  • Implement and maintain an effective capital budgeting process
  • Partner with operations teams to prepare financial business cases (e.g., Discounted Cash Flow Analysis) in support of large capital expenditures or other significant investments

 

Team Leadership

  • Develop and deliver an annual strategic plan for the Accounting & Finance team
  • Manage, coach, and develop the Accounting & Finance team members
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide meaningful feedback to team members
  • Lead regular team meetings and individual check-ins with team members

 

Other Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership for Payroll, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable processes
  • Maintain the company’s framework for internal controls over assets and financial reporting
  • Play a key role in the annual CPA review of company financial statements
  • Prepare information as needed in support of the annual tax return
  • Support annual updates to employee benefits plans and commercial insurance plans
  • As needed, serve as a team member for the company’s strategic growth initiatives


WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE TABLE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • Prior supervisory/team leadership experience
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience within manufacturing, construction, or comparable industries (e.g. project-oriented industries)
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Significant experience working with ERP systems (such as Epicor or similar solutions)
  • Experience working within cross-functional teams/environments
