Description

Content & Marketing Associate

Job Summary

The Content & Marketing Associate supports the day-to-day marketing execution for Sierra Madre Playhouse (SMP), a historic intimate performing arts center serving the San Gabriel Valley presenting roughly 180 shows a year across theater, music, dance, jazz, comedy, and family programming.

This part-time role is responsible for turning SMP's weekly marketing brief into reality by getting social posts up with the right assets, sending segmented marketing emails, keeping partner marketing swaps moving, managing print materials from order to distribution, and creating short-form video content (approximately 30-second reels) from direction provided each week.

Reporting to the Company Manager, the Content & Marketing Associate is the primary hands-on executor of SMP's marketing operation. Priorities and task assignments come from a detailed weekly marketing brief and from the Company Manager directly, so this role rarely involves guessing what to focus on. This position doesn't require formal design training, but it does require a genuinely good eye, comfort with tools like Canva, and the reliability to execute cleanly with minimal back-and-forth.

Research shows that women and individuals from underrepresented backgrounds often apply to jobs only if they meet 100% of the qualifications. We recognize that it is highly unlikely that an applicant meets 100% of the qualifications for a given role. If much of this job description describes you, you are highly encouraged to apply.

Social Media & Content Creation

  • Source the right assets from artists (photos, video, etc.) and get social posts up on schedule.
  • Edit short-form video content (approximately 30 seconds) from provided footage and creative direction.
  • Occasionally design custom marketing assets when requested (roughly once per week).

Email Marketing

  • Execute segmented email campaigns using audience segments defined by the Company Manager.
  • Follow established approval processes with increasing independence over time.

  • Track outreach and results in NeonCRM.

Print Materials

  • Manage approved print materials from ordering through distribution.
  • Work from approved designs and budgets provided by the Company Manager.

Website

  • Make and publish copy updates to Sierra Madre Playhouse's Wix website as directed.
