The Fire Watch should maintain a fire watch log that documents all observations and actions taken, and respond immediately to any signs of fire or smoke and initiate emergency procedures as necessary.

Description

JOB DUTIES

  • Conducting regular patrols of the work area to identify potential fire hazards
  • Monitoring hot work operations to ensure that fire safety protocols are being followed
  • Maintaining a fire watch log that documents all observations and actions taken
  • Responding immediately to any signs of fire or smoke and initiating emergency procedures as necessary
  • Being trained and equipped to use appropriate firefighting equipment, such as fire extinguishers and hoses
  • Communicating effectively with other workers and supervisors to ensure that everyone is aware of fire risks and safety procedures
  • Conducting a final fire watch after hot work operations have ceased to ensure that no smoldering materials remain
  • Following all OSHA regulations and guidelines related to fire safety and prevention.


ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Maintaining accurate records of fire safety inspections, drills, and training activities
  • Developing and implementing fire safety policies and procedures.
  • Coordinating fire safety training for employees and other personnel.
  • Maintaining a current inventory of fire safety equipment and supplies, and ordering additional items as necessary
  • Performing other duties as assigned by supervisors or management


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to conduct regular patrols of the work area to identify potential fire hazards
  • Certification in fire safety and prevention
  • Strong understanding of fire hazards and safety protocols
  • Effective communication skills with team members and emergency responders
  • Physical stamina and ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Quick reaction time and ability to remain calm in emergency situations
  • Must follow all OSHA regulations and guidelines related to fire safety and prevention.


SUPERVISION: Lead welder- Sher Contracting

TRAINING & SUPPORT: On-the-job training and on-going support is done by Lead Welder- Sher Contracting

TIME COMMITMENT: 40 Hours Minimum | Full Time

Salary

$30,000 - $50,000 per year
