Seven Capital is an early-stage venture capital firm dedicated to closing the funding gap for pre-seed/seed and Series A startups. We invest across diverse sectors such as E-commerce, Fintech, etc., focusing on untapped markets in Africa.
Role Overview
The Venture Capital Associate will play a crucial role in supporting Seven Capital’s investment team. This position involves sourcing, evaluating, and executing investments, conducting market research, and assisting with portfolio management.
Key Responsibilities:
Deal Sourcing:
- Identify and source potential investment opportunities.
- Engage with startup founders and conduct initial outreach.
- Conduct preliminary due diligence and recommend promising startups to senior team members.
Deal Execution:
- Analyze market requests, financials, and product information for selected startups.
- Perform in-depth market, team, and product analysis.
- Conduct detailed financial analysis to support investment decisions.
Investment Process Support:
- Augment and streamline the overall investment process.
- Collaborate with the investment team in deal structuring, negotiation, and execution.
- Assist in managing the weekly investment review process.
Portfolio Management:
- Monitor and track portfolio companies’ performance.
- Analyze financial performance and prepare quarterly valuations.
- Prepare and maintain fund and portfolio company dashboards.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Conduct in-depth market research to identify emerging trends in relevant sectors.
- Produce and present investment theses and strategy recommendations.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with portfolio companies, investors, and partners.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in business administration (MBA) preferred, with a bachelor's degree in accounting, economics, finance, business administration, or a related field.
- 2-4 years of experience in consulting, investment banking, venture capital, private equity, or corporate development.
- Demonstrable ability to build financial models and assess investment returns.
- Expertise with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
