Description

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Own discovery and product work across the full billing experience, including insurance workflows, self-pay, payments, and financial tools
  • Own billing strategy, prioritization, and roadmap planning with a focus on making billing a competitive advantage for the platform
  • Conduct practitioner interviews, biller focus groups, and customer conversations to understand workflow problems in depth
  • Research competing EHR billing products and benchmark against industry standards to identify gaps and opportunities
  • Translate complex billing requirements into clear product requirements and user experiences
  • Write PRDs, user stories, acceptance criteria, and supporting documentation in alignment with the product team's established format and process
  • Submit all product requirements for review before sharing with Engineering or leadership
  • Work closely with Product Design to make advanced billing functionality accessible without unnecessary complexity
  • Collaborate with Engineering throughout development to answer domain questions, clarify requirements, and validate completed work
  • Use AI tools to accelerate discovery, surface patterns in customer feedback, and support requirements analysis
  • Lead product acceptance testing for assigned features, verifying delivered functionality against approved requirements
  • Analyze customer feedback, support trends, feature requests, and survey findings to identify opportunities and measure outcomes
  • Work with Customer Success and billing specialists to distinguish product problems from education, operational, or payer issues
  • Contribute to a scalable billing product strategy as Sessions Health grows into larger and more complex practices

Who You Are

We're looking for someone who:

  • Asks the right questions before proposing a solution
  • Communicates proactively about risks, gaps, and dependencies
  • Writes requirements that Engineering can actually build from
  • Values process while remaining adaptable when priorities shift
  • Brings genuine curiosity about why billing workflows break down, not just how they currently work

What You'll Bring

  • 3 to 5 years of significant hands-on experience with mental health insurance billing, preferably in an outpatient mental health practice, billing organization, or Mental Health EHR environment
  • Strong working knowledge of the insurance-claim lifecycle from service through submission, adjudication, payment, denial, correction, and resubmission
  • Familiarity with CPT codes, ICD-10 diagnoses, payer IDs, NPIs, taxonomy codes, ERAs and EOBs, secondary claims, eligibility verification, and prior authorization
  • Demonstrated ability to explain complex billing concepts clearly to people who are not billing experts
  • Strong problem-solving skills and genuine curiosity about why workflows fail, not merely how they currently operate
  • Ability to listen carefully to customers, identify the underlying problem, and avoid anchoring immediately to a requested solution
  • Excellent written communication and organizational skills
  • Comfort working cross-functionally with Product, Design, Engineering, Customer Success, and leadership
  • Ability to manage ambiguity and move work forward independently while knowing when broader input is needed

Additional Experience We'd Love

  • 1 to 2 years of product management experience is preferred.
  • Candidates with substantial mental health billing expertise who demonstrate strong analytical thinking, customer empathy, written clarity, and sound judgment are encouraged to apply.
  • Experience working with software teams, SaaS products, or product requirements is a strong plus.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with EHR experience.

Benefits

  • Flexible work schedule to support work-life balance.
  • Fully remote work environment.
  • Generous PTO and paid federal holidays.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Disability insurance.
  • 401(k) match, with potential for performance bonuses.

We are committed to supporting the well-being of our employees through competitive benefits and a remote-friendly work environment. Your growth and satisfaction are important to us, and we strive to create an environment where you can thrive.
