The Hospitality Coordinator (evening shift) is responsible for the smooth-running of the evening community meal to our unhoused neighbors. They will be a welcoming presence to our guests, volunteers, and staff each evening.

Reports to: Director of Operations, Serve LA                       Full-Time, Hourly

Position Summary

Serve LA is a 501 (c) 3 religious nonprofit that exists to serve the city of Los Angeles by providing meals, recovery, and holistic support to the unseen among us in the city. Serve LA is a ministry of Reality LA, and operates primarily out of the Hope Center, providing hot meals and by distributing groceries to the neighboring community.

The Hospitality Coordinator (Evening Shift) is responsible for facilitating the smooth running of each evening meal. To include but not limited to; preparing and serving the meal, opening the doors, welcoming guests in, manage the lines to the dining room, helping with basic guest requests, work with the volunteers and chefs to prepare for the following morning meal. Close the building in the evening, reset dining room and all food preparation rooms for the morning staff, and other related functions.

Essential Functions

•  Act as “staff” on site for evening Hope Center operations

•  Participates and engages in community meals and grocery giveaways

•  Prays before each meal with staff, volunteers, guests

•  Maintains food safety, general kitchen, and building cleanliness

•  Partners with chefs to properly execute the evening meal

•  Work with volunteers to clean and setup dining room before guests arrive and closes dining room and escorts all guests from premises

•  Works with volunteers and program participants to clean the dining room, food preparation rooms, storage rooms, chapel, kitchen, sinks are free of dishes, and makes sure all trash is out of the facility upon close

•  Responsible for moving the van, locking the building, trash bins, and parking gates each night

•  Assist with donations from partner stores, food banks, and other food ministries to support ongoing operations

•  Helps train volunteers to properly execute our daily community meals

•  Work closely with the Volunteer Coordinator to ensure sufficient ministry coverage

•  Helps to maintain sufficient stock of all supplies

•  Perform other related duties as directed

Experience and Education

•  High School Diploma or GED/HSE equivalent

•  No prior experience necessary

•  Experience working for nonprofit organization and/or restaurant a plus

•  Able to pass a background and/or live scan check through the state of California

•  Must have a current CA Driver License and the ability to be added to the company vehicle policy

• Manual dexterity required for occasional reaching and lifting of small objects and operating office equipment

• Travel as required to meetings, conferences, events, and presentations

• Must be able to lift at least 50lbs
