Serenity Forge is looking for a Tools Programmer to help build a robust, user-friendly development pipeline for narrative-driven 3D games in Unreal Engine 5. Under the supervision of the Technical Director and in concert with technical and design staff, you will lead the development of an exciting suite of portable engine tools, as well as support our projects with context-specific tools. This position may be remote.

Description

Role Responsibilities

  • Build and implement a suite of tools in UE5 to connect and control the many facets of our game’s data-driven dynamic content systems
  • In collaboration with the programming team, build and implement user-friendly interfaces in the engine for designers and artists to utilize those tools
  • Create and run quality-of-life tools and automations (both in-engine and standalone) for building and testing
  • Provide additional bug fixing and testing backup to the programming team, when needed
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned


Required Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience with Unreal Engine and C++ on a commercially shipped game
  • Strong low-level understanding of Unreal Engine architecture
  • Familiarity with the roles and processes of modern game development teams and the intuition to design tools well-adapted to meet their needs
  • Experience with version control for game development (ideally, Perforce)
  • Proactive communication and collaboration, familiarity with Agile/Scrum processes
  • Detail-oriented, can comprehend project directives and philosophies and integrate them into day-to-day work
  • Ability to meet project deadlines and deliverables


Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience with Slate in Unreal
  • Experience with Python for automation
  • Interest in narrative-driven, cinematic games
  • Experience with building or using automated testing tools
  • Passion for games and the video games industry


Compensation and Benefits Offered

  • $60,000 - $80,000 / year based on experience and skillset
