Title of Position: Child Case Manager/Prevention Specialist

Supervising Position: Program Director

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or minimum 2 years experience in domestic violence and/or social services
  • Must have experience working with children
  • Must understand victimization and trauma
  • Experience & knowledge of domestic violence, social justice issues, particularly gender violence, immigration, and racial, class, and/or sexual orientation issues preferred.
  • Valid Florida’s driver’s license. Safe driving record. Willing to drive company van.
  • Reliable transportation for off-site commute
  • Excellent interpersonal and community-building skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours (all shifts including weekends).
  • Handle confidential information appropriately.
  • Must be able to attend 30 hours of Domestic Violence Core Competency Training for Certification
  • Work from an empowerment-based philosophy

Job Duties

  • Teach safe and healthy relationship skills to Victims of Crime
  • Coordinate, facilitate and participate in meetings with other community agencies
  • Ensure that Child Safety, Health, and Needs Assessments are completed within 72 hours
  • Develop and monitor the children’s plan of action/service plan
  • Provide information and assistance for civil protection orders
  • Facilitate support groups for youth and adults
  • Direct service advocacy, including: Crisis de-escalation, Safety planning, Crisis counseling, Social service referrals with domestic violence empowerment and advocacy
  • Maintain safety and security protocols at Shelter at all times
  • Complete documentation in accordance with agency requirements
  • Provide intake services for resident children and adults entering Shelter and exit interviews for adults exiting residential services
  • Ensure survivors have a clean safe environment
  • Participate in training to meet continuing education and certification requirements
  • Transport clients and their parents, in company van, to: School, Child Care, Court House , Medical care, Other community agencies
  • Perform other duties as necessary or assigned

Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience
