Position Responsibilities:
- Provides direct patient care and manages own caseload in the home, school, and community settings.
- Completes daily treatment notes, to support initial and annual evaluations, supports plan of care documents, and other documentation as needed within the required time frame.
- Creates innovative treatments to support the child’s functional communication.
- Demonstrates competency in the use, care and maintenance of profession specific equipment, observing safety precautions and providing verbal explanations of the equipment and its purpose, if needed.
- Participates in on-going collaboration with the client's team and family including emails, phone calls and face-to-face discussions, as needed.
- Establishes and maintains relationships with clients and families by providing parent education, home programs, and parent support as needed.
- Creates home programs to help support therapy goals.
- Participates in supervision meetings to support clinical development.
- General knowledge of Alternative Augmentative Communication (AAC).
- Collaborate with occupational and physical therapy in treatment ideas, duration, and effectiveness.
- Participates in all required company orientation, professional development and ongoing trainings as required.
- Actively participates in staff meetings and team meetings, as needed.
- Follows all company policies and procedures.
- Moderate physical effort (lift/carry/push up to 25 lbs), endurance, and mobility to play with children.
Requirements:
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology with a valid and current SLP license in Florida.
- Valid Florida driver’s license
- Criminal record clearance, or formal exemption
- Experience working with children or clients with special needs, including autism, Down syndrome, and other developmental delays
- Moderate physical effort (lift/carry/push up to 25 lbs), endurance, and mobility to play with children if a part of therapy sessions
