Pay Bracket Expectations
To be compensated within this pay range, the employee is expected to:
- Work independently to manage a lead queue, follow up on open quotes, and schedule site surveys with minimal daily direction from management
- Operate within established sales processes and escalate complex technical scoping questions to the Sales Manager or field team appropriately
- Collaborate actively with field reps and the operations team to ensure smooth handoffs and accurate pipeline data in Salesforce
- Maintain high standards for CRM documentation accuracy, professional customer communication, and timely follow-through on all assigned activities
Requirements
- Qualify inbound leads using established criteria and route opportunities to the appropriate sales representative or schedule site surveys as needed
- Conduct outbound prospecting via phone and email to generate new pipeline opportunities across target verticals including commercial, multi-site, and institutional customers
- Follow up on open quotes and proposals to advance deals and gather feedback; maintain accurate stage and activity records in Salesforce
- Schedule and confirm site survey appointments for field sales representatives and coordinate with the operations team for technician availability
- Maintain complete and up-to-date opportunity, contact, and account records in Salesforce CRM; log all calls, emails, and customer interactions
- Support preparation of quotes and proposals in coordination with the Sales Manager; assist with pricing research using approved systems
- Represent Security Monster professionally in all customer interactions, including occasional in-person visits or participation in site surveys
- Attend sales meetings and contribute pipeline updates, lead status, and follow-up activity summaries
- Develop working knowledge of Security Monster's core platforms
- Assist with tracking and reporting on lead sources, conversion rates, and outreach activity as directed by the Sales Manager
Escalation Path
This role should escalate to the Sales Manager when a prospect requires custom scoping, pricing outside standard parameters, or a solution design that exceeds the authority of inside sales. Technical questions beyond general platform familiarity should be directed to the appropriate field sales representative or a manufacturer's support contact. Any customer complaint, contract dispute, or situation involving a committed deliverable must be escalated promptly. The expected response from the Sales Manager for escalated items is the same business day.
Ability Requirements
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to build rapport quickly over phone and email with business owners, facilities managers, and decision-makers
- Highly organized with the ability to manage a multi-stage pipeline, prioritize follow-up activity, and meet daily and weekly outreach targets
- Proficient with CRM platforms; ability to learn and consistently use Salesforce for all sales activity logging and pipeline management
- Analytical mindset; able to review open pipeline data, identify stalled opportunities, and take proactive steps to re-engage prospects
- Ability to work independently in an office environment while remaining aligned with team goals and daily sales stand-up objectives
Job Qualifications
- 1–2 years of experience in inside sales, sales development, or customer service in a B2B or service-based environment (required)
- Demonstrated ability to manage outbound call and email activity with measurable results (required)
- Experience with CRM platforms (Salesforce preferred; other CRM experience considered) (required)
- High school diploma or equivalent (required); associate's or bachelor's degree in business, communications, or related field (preferred)
- Prior experience in the security, low-voltage, fire/life safety, or technology services industry (preferred but not required — training provided)
- Familiarity with cloud-based security platforms such as Verkada, Rhombus, or Avigilon Alta (a plus)
Physical Demands
- Primarily sedentary office role; extended periods of sitting at a workstation using a computer and telephone
- Occasional standing, walking, and light lifting (up to 25 lbs) when participating in customer site visits or trade events
- Ability to drive to customer sites on an occasional basis; valid Oregon driver's license required
Work Environment
- Primary work location is Security Monster's Eugene office; predominantly indoor, climate-controlled environment
- Occasional visits to commercial customer sites including office buildings, warehouses, retail locations, and industrial facilities
- Fast-paced sales environment with daily stand-up meetings and performance expectations around pipeline activity and lead follow-up

Customer-Facing Conduct
When interacting with customers by phone, email, or in person, the Inside Sales Representative is expected to represent Security Monster with professionalism and integrity. This includes maintaining a courteous, solutions-oriented tone in all communications, presenting a neat and professional appearance during site visits, and adhering to customer site rules and safety requirements. Company vehicles or personal vehicles used for business travel must be operated safely and responsibly. Any commitments made to customers must be documented in Salesforce and communicated to the appropriate team member for follow-through.
Work Schedule
- Standard hours: Monday through Friday, consistent with Security Monster's core business hours
- No on-call or after-hours requirements for this role under normal operating conditions
- Occasional flexibility may be requested for customer-facing events, trade shows, or team training sessions
Travel Requirements
- Primarily office-based; local travel to customer sites on an occasional basis (estimated at less than 10% of time)
- Regional overnight travel is not anticipated for this role; any such requirement would be communicated in advance

- Salesforce CRM (required; primary daily tool for pipeline management, activity logging, and reporting)
- Google Workspace (email, calendar, documents)
