This role is a full-time position and supports the gross-to-net and revenue accounting, drug pricing, revenue reporting, accounts receivable management and other ad hoc projects via a combination of assigned responsibilities plus project-based roles. The position reports to the Manager, Revenue Accounting.
· Oversee revenue recognition for pharmaceutical products, services, and contracts, ensuring compliance with ASC 606 and industry-specific guidelines
· Review and assess complex contracts, including sales agreements, distribution agreements, and government contracts (e.g., Medicaid, Medicare), to determine the proper timing and method of revenue recognition
· Manage the recognition of revenue from pharmaceutical product sales, royalties, licensing agreements, milestone payments, and collaborative arrangements
· Track and account for rebates, chargebacks, returns, and discounts, ensuring accurate application in line with customer agreements, contractual obligations and regulatory requirements
· Ensure proper accounting for bundled arrangements and the recognition of revenue across multiple performance obligations
· Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue reports for pharmaceutical products and services, ensuring accuracy and consistency with internal and external reporting requirements
· Perform detailed variance analysis for revenue, identifying trends and discrepancies
· Manage accounts receivable and estimates of allowance for doubtful accounts
· Review and reconcile revenue accounts, ensuring compliance with both US GAAP and pharmaceutical industry-specific regulatory requirements
· Develop and maintain robust policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with revenue recognition standards, government pricing regulations, and pharmaceutical industry guidelines
· Support audit processes as needed, providing necessary documentation and analysis
· Monitor changes in pharmaceutical industry regulations and adapt revenue recognition practices as necessary
· Ensure proper accounting treatment for product recalls, government rebates, and other industry-specific challenges, addressing any discrepancies in a timely manner
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams
· Support the development of accurate sales forecasts and pricing models by providing insights into revenue recognition impacts, especially in complex sales arrangements.
· Assist with ad hoc reporting and financial analysis as required by management.
· Participate in the continuous improvement of financial systems and processes, focusing on automation, efficiency, and accuracy in revenue recognition.
· Assist in ad hoc projects and other duties as assigned
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; CPA preferred.
· 4+ years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in revenue recognition within the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry
· Strong knowledge of ASC 606, pharmaceutical industry regulations, and government pricing rules
· Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
· Experience with NetSuite preferred
· Ability to develop, recommend and implement procedures
· Working knowledge of GAAP
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
· Strong Excel skills
· Experience working in a start-up environment
