Position Summary

The Director of Finance & Human Resources is responsible for overseeing the financial health and human resource operations of the organization. This leadership role manages budgeting, financial reporting, payroll oversight, compliance, employee relations, benefits administration, and talent management to support operational efficiency and organizational growth. The ideal candidate will provide strategic guidance while ensuring adherence to all applicable federal, state, and organizational policies.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Finance Responsibilities


  • Oversee daily financial operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger management.
  • Develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and financial planning initiatives.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Monitor cash flow, expenses, and revenue cycle performance to ensure financial stability.
  • Partner with executive leadership to identify opportunities for cost containment, operational efficiency, and revenue growth.
  • Manage payroll processing and ensure compliance with wage and hour laws.
  • Coordinate annual audits and work directly with external accountants, tax advisors, and financial institutions.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations.
  • Establish and maintain internal controls, financial policies, and risk management strategies.
  • Produce financial performance reports, dashboards, and key performance indicators (KPIs) for executive leadership.
  • Conduct provider compensation analysis, including productivity-based compensation models, collections-based formulas, and benchmarking against industry standards.
  • Oversee financial aspects of insurance credentialing, including payer enrollment tracking, reimbursement rate analysis, contract monitoring, and identification of credentialing-related revenue delays.
  • Develop and monitor productivity benchmarks for providers and departments, including patient volume, collections, charges, reimbursement rates, and utilization metrics.
  • Analyze and manage staffing ratios to align labor costs with patient volume, operational demands, and organizational goals.
  • Partner with operational leaders to evaluate staffing efficiency and recommend adjustments to optimize coverage and reduce overtime.
  • Monitor physician and ancillary service profitability by location, service line, and provider.
  • Support strategic planning initiatives including new service lines, expansion opportunities, and capital investments.
  • Evaluate payer mix and reimbursement trends to identify financial risks and growth opportunities.

Human Resources Responsibilities


  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, orientation, and retention strategies.
  • Maintain employee records and ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations.
  • Administer employee benefits, leave management, and workers’ compensation claims.
  • Manage payroll-related HR functions including compensation, deductions, and benefit reconciliation.
  • Develop and implement HR policies and procedures.
  • Provide guidance on employee relations, performance management, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution.
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. Department of Labor regulations, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission guidelines, and applicable state labor laws.
  • Coordinate employee training, development, and performance evaluation programs.
  • Lead organizational compliance efforts related to workplace safety and labor regulations.
  • Support leadership in workforce planning and succession planning.

Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive leadership experience in finance and HR management.
  • Healthcare or medical practice management experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, budgeting, payroll, and HR compliance.
  • Experience with payroll systems, HRIS platforms, and accounting software.
  • Strong understanding of labor laws, benefits administration, and employee relations.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • High level of discretion and confidentiality.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in physician practice finance, revenue cycle, and operational reporting.
  • Knowledge of healthcare reimbursement models and payer contracting.
  • Experience with multi-site operations and workforce planning.
  • Professional certifications such as CPA, SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP, or PHR preferred.
