Description

Store Manager

Scout Northwest Trading Co. — Lincoln City, Oregon

Scout Northwest Trading Co. is looking for a Store Manager to help lead our next chapter.

Scout is not your average retail store. We are a locally owned Northwest lifestyle shop located at the Lincoln City Outlets, featuring apparel, local goods, gifts, axe throwing, drinks, and products that celebrate Oregon culture. Some of what we sell is created by our own team. Some comes from local and regional makers we love. All of it is meant to feel fun, thoughtful, and memorable.

We are growing, and this is a pivotal time for our brand. Scout has built strong momentum, and we are looking for the right person to join our team and be part of the next chapter. This store is part of a bigger vision: creating a unique shopping and experience destination for locals, tourists, outdoor families, and anyone who loves the Pacific Northwest.

We are not just hiring someone to “watch the store.” We are looking for a leader, builder, and creative teammate.

About the Role

The Store Manager will help lead day-to-day operations at Scout while also helping grow the brand, improve the customer experience, support the team, and keep the store moving forward.

The right person does not need to have years of traditional retail management experience. That can be taught. What matters more is leadership, ownership, creativity, follow-through, and the ability to make people feel welcome.

This role is ideal for someone who likes variety, enjoys people, has good style and product instincts, and wants to be part of building something special.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and support the Scout team
  • Create a welcoming, fun, and high-energy customer experience
  • Help merchandise the store so products look great and sell well
  • Assist with product creation, product selection, and new ideas
  • Help manage inventory, displays, restocking, and store organization
  • Support axe throwing operations and in-store experiences
  • Train team members on service, sales, and store standards
  • Help grow average ticket, customer engagement, and repeat visits
  • Work with ownership on promotions, events, local partnerships, and seasonal opportunities
  • Keep the store clean, sharp, organized, and ready for busy tourist traffic
  • Bring ideas to the table and help turn good ideas into action

Who We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone who is:

  • A natural leader
  • Creative and energetic
  • Good with people
  • Organized enough to keep things moving
  • Positive, calm, and dependable
  • Excited about building a brand
  • Comfortable giving direction and holding standards
  • A team player who jumps in where needed
  • Interested in apparel, gifts, local products, outdoor lifestyle, or Oregon Coast culture
  • Willing to learn new things, including product creation, merchandising, events, and systems

Retail experience is helpful, but it is not required. We would rather hire the right leader with the right attitude than someone with a perfect retail résumé but no spark.

What Makes Scout Different

Scout is part store, part local brand, part experience. We sell products, but we are also creating memories for people visiting Lincoln City. A customer might come in for a hoodie, throw axes with their family, discover a local maker, grab a drink, and leave with something that reminds them of the Oregon Coast.

We want Scout to feel personal, creative, and alive. That means our manager needs to care about the details: how the store looks, how customers are greeted, what products are featured, what the team is excited about, and how we keep improving.

This Is a Great Fit If You

  • Like building things, not just maintaining them
  • Enjoy working in a fun, fast-moving environment
  • Have an eye for products, displays, and customer experience
  • Want your ideas to matter
  • Are comfortable leading people
  • Can balance creativity with accountability
  • Care about small business, local brands, and community
  • Want to be part of something that is growing

This Is Probably Not a Great Fit If You

  • You only want a clock-in, clock-out job
  • You do not like interacting with customers
  • You need every day to be exactly the same
  • You are uncomfortable taking ownership
  • You avoid hard conversations or team accountability
  • You are not interested in helping grow a brand

Please send us your résumé and a short note telling us why this role sounds interesting to you. We care more about who you are, how you lead, and what excites you than whether your background checks every traditional retail box.
