Serve as a design and production professional using design software to create, layout, update, format, and produce marketing and other collateral materials

Description

The Graphic Designer will serve as a design and production professional using design software to create, layout, update, format, and produce marketing and other collateral materials for the School of Government and its internal and external clients. These materials may include reports, newsletters, catalogs, flyers, logos, banners, web graphics, signage, and many others. This position will work closely with both Faculty and staff at the School of Government as well as outside vendors, to determine the scope and focus of graphic design projects, will manage projects as they go through approvals and production, and will work closely with the design manager to maintain the UNC and other internal brands, and maintain meaningful, high-level design standards. 

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the position and at least 5 years of professional graphic design experience.All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, especially Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign
  • Solid understanding of the principles of design, typography, page layout, and web design 
  • Knowledge of the principles and methods of planning, designing, producing, printing, and implementing visually appealing products that communicate a clear message to target audiences
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Possess the ability to:
  • Work successfully in a team environment as well as independently
  • Quickly and efficiently manage and execute a multitude of projects simultaneously 
  • Ability to work within an existing brand

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • An understanding of basic web design principles
  • Design and text styling in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
  • Print production

$48,000 - $52,000 per year
