The construction forman will be responsible for orderliness on-site and ensure compliance with safety regulations.


You will ensure quality standards are met, and all equipment and materials are always available on-site. You will liaise with inspection authorities regarding approvals. To ensure success you should complete projects on time and within budget, and never compromise on quality. Top candidates will be strong leaders, pro-active, and perform well under pressure.


Responsibilities:

  • Leading and managing each job site and ensuring the on-site construction teams have the materials for the week that is needed to complete the work efficiently and on time.
  • Coordinating and setting up the tasks for the Crews in the morning and manage any resource gaps or issues.
  • Hire and train as required.
  • Attending production meetings and updating the project manager on daily progression and goals for the week.
  • Reviewing and becoming familiar with the schedule and budget and ensuring adherence to these. Escalate to the project manager timeously to avoid delays
  • Ensuring quality standards are met and holding the subs and team members accountable
  • Placing orders for materials and responsible for equipment and supply of materials on site throughout the project until the job is complete.
  • Follow the project timeline to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Monitoring and ensuring on-site safety compliance, cleanliness, and orderliness.
  • Maintaining records /logs for site personnel
  • Liaising with inspection authorities regarding approvals.
  • Manage subcontractor and vender relationships where necessary
  • Meet with sub-contractors to gather bids/pricing


Skills Required:

  • Extensive experience in construction and preferably 2 years’ experience in a similar role as Supervisor
  • Framing, Plumbing, HVAC, Electrical - Be able to flag issues before they occur and minimize risk
  • Excellent time and project management experience - Be able to not only plan the projects tasks to be completed by the team but can efficiently manage your own time
  • Excellent communication skills - would prefer bilingual but must be able to communicate clear expectations with team members and sub-contractors
  • Eye for detail to be able to look for not only construction issues but also quality finish details
  • Must be extremely organized, be a problem solver and be able to work independently.
